Inspirational small business women. Southampton Forward Community Legend. My exciting venture. Please join me on it and invite your friends. I lived my life within limits. I was told so many things that I believed, because we innately believe things people tell us. Those things restricted me. My life was only half-lived. Then, on top of a life long condition, I developed other illnesses. Life felt

like it was not worth living. Thankfully, that changed. My illnesses made me realise how lucky I am. I realised that, although my body protested a lot, it was still capable of so much. I started doing things that, previously, I would have felt ridiculous doing. I started learning, then performing, burlesque. After a few years of performing, I started teaching, and I LOVE my workshops. Women come to them, most with low self-esteem, most feeling they can never be sexy, and they walk out with heads held high. How can I not love that?!! I also started teaching dance. When I was a child, I really wanted to be a dancer but I was told it was a waste of time and I was too big anyway. No, it's not a waste of time, and, no, I am not too big. I truly believe everyone can get pleasure from dancing and I will do whatever I can to enable that. Then came the body confidence workshops. The change in the women I work with! I love it so much! I know these women are beautiful when they come in; when they leave, they are beginning to feel that about themselves too. Vie-ness. It is about life. It is about living it. It is about making the best of what you have. I can help. Workshops and classes. Body Confidence Workshops, online sessions and one to one sessions. Body confidence workshops for teens and pre-teens. I had a wonderful time at a brilliant conference today.

The very lovely .collective introduced me to the organiser and she invited me to be the keynote speaker at an event for ELSAS.

The event was brilliant, full to the brim of fantastic people.

I talked to them about confidence and self-esteem, and shared a couple of the tools I teach in my training sessions, which they participated in so they could see how impactful they are.

We talked, we laughed, we played a game.

After, I had people asking me for photos, sharing their stories, and I was answering questions about my work and my training 💖.

It was such a Wonderful Wednesday.

Last night I was invited to to speak at a golf event.

It was such a lovely event!

I was asked to do a sort of "day in the life of living with EB' and here's what I did 💖.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare, genetic, skin blistering condition. I was born with it.

Below is a little bit of my story, living with the condition.

Any questions, please do ask.

I had a lovely time this evening!

I was invited, in my role as a DEBRA Ambassador, to speak at a DEBRA UK Charity Golf Evening at Surbiton Golf Club .

Everyone was so welcoming! It's such a lovely venue. And the food was delicious 😋.

After the food, and a game of Heads or Tails, I was asked to give a talk about living with EB, the rare genetic skin disability I was born with.

The attendees were very attentive, and, after, a couple of them said that my talk was very emotive, and they now have a better understanding of the importance of the charity 💖. Mission accomplished 💖.

And I had to wear my Fight EB bracelet that was made by a wonderful young person in our EB community, that she gave to me at Members Weekend 💖.

I love public speaking!

I will share the video tomorrow.

Xx

Today I have been reminded how important it is to show kindness.

Kindness feels like it's in short supply in our world currently, but we can all change that. And we can change it with very little effort 💖.

Today, just by being me, I brightened two people's days, and it barely took me two minutes to do.

Can you imagine the difference we could make if every single one of us took just two minutes to be kind to someone else?!

And, if those people then took two minutes to show an act of kindness, then those people did, and so on, imagine the ripple effect of kindness and gorgeous-ness spreading around the world!
That would be beautiful 😍.

What acts of kindness have you given or received?

This is a great example of how communication differs.

If ever you feel I haven't explained anything adequately enough, please do say.

This image was shared by an autistic friend - I’m sharing it to highlight that language use is not straightforward - and professionals need to be very aware of that.

Extracting meaning from text isn’t just a fun language game for many autistic people, it’s daily life, and it can be exhausting.

This image is a perfect example of why. One simple sentence - “I never said she stole my money” - silently splits into seven different meanings, purely depending on which word your brain decides to highlight. Most non-autistic people do this emphasis-reading automatically, using tone of voice, facial expression, context, and a whole lot of shared, unspoken assumptions.

But if your brain is wired to take language literally and prioritise the actual words on the page, you’re often not running that invisible “emphasis decoder” in the background. You might read exactly what is written, without guessing the speaker’s hidden intent and then get told you’ve “missed the point”, “overreacted”, or “taken it the wrong way”. From an autistic perspective, that’s not a failure; it’s a predictable outcome of different pragmatic language processing, where clarity and precision feel safer than guessing.

So when we talk about “social communication difficulties” in autism, it isn’t that we’re careless or lazy with language. Often, we are doing extra cognitive work: holding multiple possible meanings in mind, trying to infer tone that isn’t clearly signposted, and double checking whether the words mean what they say or something entirely different.

If you want to be supportive to autists, the most respectful thing you can do is say what you actually mean, check in rather than assume, and treat direct, literal understanding as a valid way of being in the world, not a defect to fix.

Today has been especially wonderful!

I have shared my love of before, as I love what they do, and how incredible they are at supporting the Neurofibromatosis Type 1 community.

This year the charity has reached 10 years old!

As part of their celebrations they are creating a film and they kindly asked me to be part of it. I was asked about our weekly story time sessions and the confidence sessions we're starting this coming week.

Today, two gorgeous people came to our flat and filmed me at home; then we had a bit of a walk around the nature reserve we live very near to - even my partner, the lesser-spotted man, got filmed as we walked around. After, we went to a local pub for a tasty lunch, and a little bit more filming.

I really enjoyed spending time with them! Both of them were incredibly lovely, and I loved hearing their stories.

The film will be out later this year, and I will be sharing it, but, for now, please do go and look at the fantastic work Childhood Tumour Trust do.

I have some very exciting people visiting today!

I've got one of my favourite frocks on, and I've even put on sparkly eyeliner.

But I'm melting 😂😂.

When I share what I'm going to be doing later, this is the behind-the-scenes reality: me face to face with an electric fan 😂.

I went to another wonderful workshop with the very talented

I knew when I booked that we were painting a tortoise; I love tortoises so I was really looking forward to it.

But there was a fabulous surprise!

The gorgeous tortoise we were basing our paintings on was Sally's actual tortoise and he came to meet us all! I was so excited!

I'm really happy with my painting, even though it isn't what I thought I was going to create; I was originally going to do more rainbow colours but, when I paint, I like to "go with the flow" because I'm still learning and I think experimenting will help me with that.

And it was another fantastic evening 💖.
