Last night something wonderful happened 💖.
And I wanted to reflect on it before I shared.
Last night, during a joyous Zoom call, I found out that I am a finalist in three - three!!! - categories in the lovely Earth Business Awards.
These are the three categories:
- Sacred Spaceholder. Community and Inclusion Award;
- The Lighthouse Conscious Coach/Mentor Award;
And,
- Creative Author, Artist, Oracle Deck Award.
Isn't it incredible?! 😍
I'm so proud to be a finalist in these three categories because each of them represents things that are exceptionally important to me.
I believe strongly in community and inclusion. I want to be part of a global village so I do all I can to ensure I'm a good villager.
For me, part of that means ensuring everyone knows they are welcome, and that they will be treated with love and kindness. It means that I will do all I can to ensure that everyone has what they need to live the happy life they want. It means ensuring everyone feels included.
As a Coach, I use all of my academic experience, all of my work experience, and, for me, most importantly, all of my life experience when I work with my clients.
I believe we all deserve to feel good about who we are and what we do, and, whether I'm working one to one with someone, running a workshop for a group of children or teens, or working with a group of women, I will do all I can to ensure everyone leaves with tools to help them blossom through the rest of their lives. I will show them that I truly believe they have value and that they deserve to live with love, kindness, and respect.
I will help them Find Their Fabulous 💖.
And my books, my cards, my journals.
I created what I needed when I was younger, when it felt like I was the only person in the world with my disabilities, when I felt so sad and lonely, when I wanted to take steps to change how I saw myself; I couldn't find it when I needed it so I created all of them for those that need them now.
My inclusive children's picture books represent joy, love, adventure, and growth. They give children the language to explore how they feel, and they show them they are wonderful as they are. I wanted the books to be something that almost everyone could read and see themselves, whether that be in an image, or in an adventure. I still cry when someone, whether they're 8 or 80, says it's the first time they've seen themselves represented in a book 🥹.
The journals and cards were created to give people a one step at a time approach to changing their mindset, because I remember how scary it is to feel you're standing at the bottom of a mountain, with a sign saying "Happiness" at the top, believing it was an impossible climb. All we need to do is take one step at a time. I'll hold your hand if you would like me to 🥰.
And, "La Vie Est Belle. Learning to live hopefully ever after", well, she was the hardest to write because I shared so much of myself in her. I knew I had to do that so that the readers could feel they weren't alone. I wanted them to know that my book could be their friend along their journey, with regular reminders to stop for a cup of tea and some chocolate.
So being chosen as a finalist in these categories, in these amazing awards, means a lot to me.
I'm so grateful.
