👻🎃 Our residents across the Foundation have been taking part in Halloween celebrations, enjoying getting creative and embracing the spooky season together this October! A huge thank you to Tesco Whitstable, Tesco Superstore Rainham, and Tesco Extra Gillingham for their generous donations of pumpkins.

A big thank you to Councillor Grace Padget for asking about the support available for people living with disabilities at the recent Canterbury City Council meeting and for shining a spotlight on the vital work we do.

Councillor Charlotte Cornell said, "The work that Strode Park Foundation do is absolutely fantastic. It means an awful lot to many, many families."

🐴 Say hello to the festive ponies at Christmas in the Park!

We are delighted to welcome the adorable ponies from George and Friends to this year's Christmas in the Park on Saturday 28th November, 10am-1pm.

Bring the whole family along to Strode Park House in Herne for the chance to meet these very special guests, enjoy plenty of festive photo opportunities, and soak up the magic of Christmas.

Alongside the festive ponies, you can visit Santa's Grotto, enjoy live music, Christmas crafts and games, enter our raffle and tombola, tuck into delicious food from Smokey Joe's, homemade cakes and hot chocolates with all the trimmings. Be sure to take part in our Christmas Outfit Competition to win a fantastic prize!

Thank you to everyone who attended, exhibited, volunteered, and supported our Classic Car, Motorbike, & Model Railway Show, held at Strode Park House in Herne on 19th September.

We are delighted to share that the event raised an incredible £2,452 for Strode Park Foundation’s Wheels Appeal, helping to fund accessible vehicles for people with disabilities.

🛻One of the highlights of the day was for Andy, a resident at Lady Dane Farmhouse, our residential home in Faversham, who was delighted to see his favourite classic car, a 1970s Ford Cortina 1600E, on display. Thanks to the kindness of its owner, Andy was invited to sit in the driver's seat, leaving him beaming from ear to ear!

With 50 classic cars, 30 motorbikes, and five model railway layouts on display, the event was a fantastic success and brought hundreds of people from the local community together.

🙏A huge thank you goes to our friends at the East Kent Model Railway Society, East Kent Morris Minor Club, Thanet MG Owners’ Club and the BSA Club for their support and assistance in helping to organise the event.

Our Classic Car, Motorbike, & Model Railway Show will return on Saturday 18th September, 2027!

One of our supported living residents, Amber, recently showed great courage by having her flu vaccination. In the past, this was something Amber found difficult, but this year she faced her fears and staff at Lifestyles Community Services awarded her a bravery certificate for her amazing achievement. Amber has come such a long way, and it is wonderful to see her confidence continuing to grow. We are all so proud of her!

“It’s my favourite day of the week coming to Strode Park Day Centre. I love the variety of activities, going for days out, especially sailing,” shared Terry, a client at the Day Centre.

It was wonderful to welcome Brian to The Coach House, where he met the residents, chatted with staff, and presented the cheque.

✨ Meet Father Christmas in his magical grotto at Christmas in the Park!

Step into the magic of Christmas and visit Father Christmas in his grotto at Christmas in the Park on Saturday 28th November. Little ones can share their Christmas wishes, take a special photo with Father Christmas, and enjoy all the wonder of the festive season.

🎅 An additional charge applies for entry to Father Christmas's Grotto, with a gift included for each child. All money raised helps Strode Park Foundation support people with disabilities.

As well as Father Christmas’ grotto, there is plenty more fun for the whole family, including meeting our festive therapy ponies, live music, Christmas crafts, games, a raffle and tombola. Following the launch of the new sensory garden at Lady Dane Farmhouse, our residential home in Faversham, staff are organising ‘Make a Wish' Days for our residents through the installation of a special ‘wishing tree’.

✨Malcolm's wish was to be James Bond for the day and was picked from the tree by former CEO, Paul Montgomery. A huge thank you to Malcolm’s key workers, Kelly and Sam, for organising this memorable experience for Malcolm. They played iconic 007 music, while staff and residents took on the roles of Bond villains. Malcolm thoroughly enjoyed his day, saying, “Can I do this again?”

To finish the day, Malcolm selected the next wish from the wishing tree, which belonged to Michael. His wish is to spend a day playing with Hot Wheels cars, and his key workers, Rachel and Alicia, are busy planning his special day. We cannot wait to see what they have in store for the next 'Make a Wish' Day!
