A huge thank you to Laura Parr, Lead Care & Support Worker at Platters Farm Lodge, for sharing photos from this week’s hilarious game of Grandma’s Knickers!

There were plenty of giggles as residents took turns wearing the giant knickers and throwing the ball, while circus music played. Everyone enjoyed getting moving, staying active, and having fun with friends.

Thank you to Places for People - New Homes & Vistry for their amazing generosity towards our gardening group at Strode Park Foundation’s Day Opportunities Centre in Herne.

đź’•Their wonderful contribution of ÂŁ500 has enabled us to repair and create a new patio area by our greenhouse and fund high-rise planters to grow plants and vegetables.

💬Sadia Ahmed, Socio Economic & Community Engagement Manager, Places For People & Vistry, said, "It’s great to see that the community can enjoy the new patio and make use of the planters, which definitely make any space look so much better and smarter, and hopefully the community will love using the planters while growing flowers and vegetables! Places for People + Vistry partnership is so proud to be able to support Strode Park Foundation in this way."

🌱A Day Centre client shared, "I love our gardening sessions. It is one of my favourite things to do! I like to see things grow."

This generous support has created opportunities for our clients to enjoy gardening together, develop new skills, and take pride in seeing their plants and vegetables grow. Thank you to Places For People and Vistry for helping make this possible.

“I really enjoy volunteering. It has helped me recover from a difficult time; I feel I get so much from it. I’d recommend it to anyone with some spare time as it’s so rewarding, and you get to meet some lovely people,” explained Pat, who has been involved with Strode Park Foundation for 14 years, as her late husband, Phil, was a service-user at Strode Park House. She has spent the last 2 years volunteering at Strode Park House, supporting both the Day Opportunities Centre and the Activities team.

🙏We currently have 12 amazing volunteers who generously dedicate their time across our residential homes at Strode Park Foundation.

Our volunteers make such a meaningful difference every day, helping to create supportive, welcoming environments for our service-users at Strode Park Foundation. Thank you to Pat and all of our home volunteers for the time, kindness, and dedication you give.

A huge thank you to Tracy and Duncan from Apetito for arranging a fantastic food-tasting event at our residential home, Lady Dane Farmhouse in Faversham.

The Apetito team prepared a selection of dishes from their exciting new menu range for residents, staff, and families to sample and enjoy. The residents also had great fun decorating delicious cakes!

The tasting session proved to be a real eye-opener, with some residents discovering they actually enjoyed foods they previously thought they didn't like. They shared that "the Salmon Fish Finger was a favourite," and "it was all very tasty & delicious."

Residents will be meeting with Kitchen Assistant, Hayley, to help plan a new menu together, ensuring their new preferences remain at the heart of mealtimes.

Karen has been volunteering with Strode Park Foundation for a year and a half. Alongside 30 dedicated volunteers, Karen helps support our fundraising events throughout the year, from our Christmas community event to our Theatre in the Park summer music shows.

đź’™Our event volunteers play a huge role in making these fundraisers possible by helping to set up and pack down, running game stalls and raffles, serving at the bar, and creating wonderful decorations and cakes. They are the friendly faces you see when you attend a Strode Park Foundation event, and we could not do it without them!

Karen shared, “Volunteering at Strode Park Foundation’s fundraising events is so rewarding. I love giving back to society, helping raise money for the clients, and sharing what Strode Park Foundation does. One of my favourite parts of volunteering is interacting with people at the events and making cakes and crafts for the Christmas and Easter fundraisers! It’s so lovely to see the generosity and support from the community.”

🙏Thank you to Karen and all of our incredible event volunteers for the enthusiasm and hard work you bring to every fundraiser.
