📢 A LITTLE HELP NEEDED – CAN YOU LEND A HAND? 🌿

The Rotary Club is appealing for a little help!

As many of you will know, our Club has been proudly maintaining the gardens at Haywood House, at the City Hospital, for the past 8–9 years. 🌷🌱

We are currently clearing out the rubbish that has accumulated behind the storage sheds, and we’re looking for a kind-hearted person or business who could help us dispose of it.

🚛 Could you help by donating a skip or lending a pickup truck?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and would make a real difference to our ongoing work in keeping the gardens looking their best.

🌿 A Huge Thank You to AJD Fencing & Gates! 🌿

We’re delighted to share another step forward in our ongoing project to care for and enhance the gardens at Haywood House, Nottingham.

As Mapperley & Arnold Rotary Club, we are proud to be working on this project to help create a more welcoming, peaceful and private outdoor environment for patients and their families.

As part of the work, we identified the need to fence off an area within the grounds, creating a more secluded and tranquil space.

We approached Anthony Dawson, Director of AJD Fencing & Gates, who kindly visited Haywood House “Specialist Palliative Care Unit” Nottingham to understand the project and assess what would work best.

Anthony and his team then went above and beyond by supplying and professionally installing the fencing completely free of charge.

This was an incredibly generous contribution and a wonderful example of a local business supporting its community.

The finished work is outstanding 🙌
The team were professional, respectful and clearly took great pride in their work. Their generosity has made a real difference to the gardens and, most importantly, to the patients and families who will benefit from this special space when completed.

🎪 Fun in the Park & Exciting News Ahead! ☀️🎈
What a fantastic Saturday at Gedling Borough Council’s Annual Fun Fair day! Mapperley & Arnold Rotary Club (MARC) members were out in full force helping our wonderful community friends.
From putting up the History Group Gazebo to helping our friends at Gedling Play Forum and the Dice'n'Balls team set up, we were busy from start to finish. Some of our team stayed to help run the activities—including circus skills, balloon toy making, and table-top games—while a crew returned at the end of the day to help pack it all down.
As you can see, we were still smiling at the end of the day! (And it turns out, having a friend with circus skills comes in very handy when you don't have a ladder! 🤹‍♂️🪜)
Huge thanks to Event Organiser Sarah Cook and everyone who made the day such a great success. Well done, all!

The fun doesn't stop in the park! Plans are already afoot for an indoor Table-Top Games & Mini-Mini Con, hosted alongside the Dice'n'Balls Team.

🏍️ SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL HEROES! 🏍️
Yesterday, on Sunday 7th June, three of our members from the Rotary Club of Mapperley and Arnold had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with the incredible team from Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes at Wollaton Park.
The Blood Bikes had a massive presence at the Nottingham Car Show, surrounded by dozens of their passionate members and dedicated supporters. It was the perfect backdrop for us to present them with a cheque for £1,000! 💰✨

🤝 Over a Decade of Partnership
Mapperley and Arnold Rotary Club has been proudly supporting this very worthwhile charity for over 10 years. The work they do to deliver essential blood, platelets, and medical supplies to NHS hospitals is truly lifesaving.
