MITCAR MITCAR (Midlands Italian Car Day) is the annual event hosted by the East Midlands Section of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club UK for owners of all Italian cars

The notion of having a Midlands Italian Car Day was developed by Bryan Alexander, a long time member of the Alfa Romeo Owners' Club and, at that time, East Midlands Area Organiser for the Ferrari Owners' Club. Right from the start, the idea was enthusiastically backed by John Griffiths, then Secretary of the Central Midlands Section of AROC (now called East Midlands). Since then the various Italian Owners' Clubs and organisations have been very supportive - but it must be stressed that the event will always be open to ANY driver of ANY Italian car with motor cycles welcome. Whilst organising the 2003 event, something of a crisis arose concerning the pressing need for Public Liability Insurance. This was solved by the official 'adoption' of the event by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club UK ltd, enabling the utilisation of their blanket insurance cover. Without this solution, the event might well have died. John continues to organise the event and as Secretary of the East Midlands Section this fits comfortably with its status as an event under the AROC umbrella. John is also Chairman and Events Director for AROC UK Ltd. Bryan retired from its organisation in 2014, but kept a keen interest until his sad passing in 2019. The grand trophy for the Car of the Day (as chosen by public vote) that he created is now called 'The Bryan Alexander Camshaft Trophy'.

Thanks to all 500 or so who came to MITCAR 2026 at Grimsthorpe Castle. A simply fantastic event! 320 very varied Italian cars spanning some eight decades! Winning the Bryan Alexander Camshaft Trophy for Car of the Day by public vote was Justin Edwards (pictured with trophy) with his wonderful Lancia Delta Integrale Evo. Best Exotic was the Maserati MC20 of Bob Holmes - Special Award went to with a super-rare Panda Alessi belonging to Brett Moxam- Italian Rarity was won b Tim Milnes' tiny red 1000 Abarth Grand Prix - The Organisers' Choice Award went to Martin Roberts' sensational Giulia Spider in pale grey. Just so much to see though. Thanks to Research Garage for sponsoring the awards, too all supporting clubs and to everyone bringing such amazing cars new and old - and of course our brilliant team of marshals from the Alfa Romeo Owners Club's East Midlands Section. (No need to enter for that, our experts will spotting best cars in a host of categories PLUS there's a public vote for car of the day too!)
