A Bristol charity collecting business waste to be reused as a creative resource by our members You'll never know what weird and wonderful things you might find!

We are a reuse charity dedicated to helping businesses divert reusable waste away from landfill/energy recovery to help improve art and play opportunities for children, young people and adults. With our store based in Bristol we offer:

The Scrapstore
We have a large warehouse full of varied, colourful and abundant scrap materials fantastic for creative play opportunities at low costs. You can see examples of what scrap we’ve had recently here, or what scrap we’re currently looking for and what we don’t take here. All of the scrap is safe surplus stock collected directly from local businesses and industry. If you would like to donate business waste please contact us. Please bring your Membership/Supporters Plus card every time you visit as you won’t be able to access scrap without it. Our opening times can be found above.

The ArtShop
We offer a massive range and variety of arts and crafts materials, and the ArtShop is open to the public as well as our members. All of our products are competitively priced, with all profits going straight back into Children’s Scrapstore. We also offer badge makers for hire. Please contact us for more details.

The Playroom and Events
We run Messy Play for Under 5s every week and have sessions for older children in school holidays. You can find more information and book on our events page. We also run parties for all ages. We can also facilitate workshops at Children’s Scrapstore or at your venue, please contact us for more information.

Play Team
We offer a range of training programmes including our renowned Scrapstore PlayPods and consultancy to schools, early years settings, other play settings and any organisation that would like to be more playful.

Spot the scrap! 👀
Have you seen this fantastic giant puppet made by Undergrowth roaming about Bristol?
You might have seen it at Bristol Experimental Puppet Festival and the Festival of Nature, but did you know that it’s entirely made from materials from Children’s Scrapstore!

All the textiles and other details (bar the willow) are from scrap saved from waste at the Scrapstore Warehouse in St Werburghs. ♻
The willow was bought from our charity's not-for-profit ArtShop, originally started to support reuse creations like this.

Undergrowth held a free all-day workshop to create this giant puppet together, with 50 participants showing up over the course of the day to contribute in the making, resulting in the Radio Active Wild Boar Pig Hybrid! 🐷
The puppet later also featured in a performance at their 'Carnival in the Undergrowth' community arts day.

Last weekend we were also a venue for the St Werburghs Arts Trail where, alongside our free drop-in craft activities, we hosted several amazing artists (for many this was their first ever time taking part in an arts trail too!) 🎨

In our building we were lucky enough to have:
-art
-michelleart

-of-roisin

-art
-ella

A big thank you to the artists who decided to choose us as their venue, as well as to all the new visitors to our charity as part of the arts trail.
There was a great buzz around St Werburghs and it made for a wonderfully creative weekend. ✨

This Warehouse Wednesday, help us find where in the Scrapstore Wendy is hiding! 👀

All photos were taking this morning, so every bit of scrap you spot while searching for Wendy is something you can pick up from our building in St Werburghs today (though we can't guarantee for how long, scrap can move through the blue doors fast!)

If your new to us or haven't gotten scrap from us before, welcome! We are Children's Scrapstore, a Bristol reuse charity that is on a mission to redefine waste as resource, widen opportunities for creativity and play, as well as to improve wellbeing and empower others to do the same. ♻

You can access our scrap through Annual Membership or by buying a Supporters Plus Card for £10 (where after each full level basket of scrap is a suggested donation of £7 based on volume, but less if you don't fully fill it.)
For more detailed info on how to take home scrap, check out our website 🔗 https://www.childrensscrapstore.co.uk/warehouse-and-scrap-access

What an absolutely incredible weekend! 🤩
Over the Saturday and Sunday, 365 adults and children crafted costumes reusing scrap materials across four free drop-in events. ♻

Super Scrap Costume Crafts was a huge success, with not only a wonderful community turn out but also lots of extremely kind feedback (that we're still only just starting to sort through)!
Thank to to everyone who attended and engaged with this reuse activity as part of the fantastic Sustainable Fashion Week (and those who visited from the of St Werburghs Arts Trail ), as well as to our hard working staff for making this weekend possible.

As well as the crafting, 143 baskets of scrap made their way out of our Scrapstore Warehouse ready to be given a new purpose beyond becoming waste. It was wonderful to see our charity's building so busy with lots of both new and familiar faces about. ✨

If you're one of the new visitors to our charity (or are a regular who wants a refresher), check out our website to find out more about the variety of reuse, creativity and play work we do, as well as our different events and services.
