We have a guest speaker for the next meeting this coming Tuesday - please try to support and bring friends and colleagues.
Lt Commander Royal Navy officer Paul McKay (Rtd) will share his life at sea including experiences that gave him membership of The Goldfish Club, a unique and exclusive association of individuals who owe their lives to successful escape or rescue following an aircraft incident at sea.
Tuesday, April 14th
Weldon Cricket Club – 7pm.
Paul, who is vice-chair of the Rushden branch of the RBL, will share his powerful and often humbling perspective on risk, training, luck and survival.
He began his career at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth in 1972 and went on to serve for 30 years as a Royal Navy officer, combining a specialist underwater warfare career with operational flying, commanding two of the UK’s largest helicopter squadrons during the 1990s.
His service also included diplomatic appointments as a Defence Attaché in Oman, the UAE and Kuwait.
Alongside his professional work, Paul remains deeply committed to the Armed Forces community. He has recently been elected as the Southeast Midlands Membership Council Representative, where he will represent the voice of members across the region.
Paul is also open about his own journey with Complex PTSD stemming from his service and he speaks candidly to encourage greater understanding of mental health within the veteran community helping others to recognise early signs and seek support.
All welcome - please bring friends and colleagues to what promises to be an interesting meeting.
