Our mission includes TNVR, rabies awareness, and education programs to foster compassion for animals. Tahira Animal Welfare Foundation is a registered animal welfare charity. TAWF is a beacon of hope for the homeless, injured, abused, and neglected animals in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Established with the mission to improve the lives of these vulnerable creatures, TAWF operates a state-of-the-art animal shelter and rescue service, providing essential care and rehabilitation. Our Mission
At TAWF, we are dedicated to rescuing animals in distress and offering them a safe haven. Our mission extends beyond rescue to include comprehensive medical care, food, and shelter. We are controling the population of stray animals through humane methods (TNVR), thereby reducing their suffering and the spread of diseases like rabies. Key Projects and Activities
1. Animal Rescue Service: Every day, our team responds to rescue calls, saving animals from severe injuries, abuse, and life-threatening conditions. We provide these animals with immediate medical care and a safe environment to recover.

2. TNVR Project: Our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) project is a pioneering effort in Faisalabad, Pakistan, aiming to humanely manage the stray animal population and eliminate rabies. Since its inception, we have vaccinated and sterilized thousands of animals, significantly reducing stray-related issues.

3. Awareness and Education: Through our classroom awareness project, we educate school children about animal rights and the importance of empathy towards animals. This initiative is crucial in fostering a compassionate future generation.

4. Equine Welfare: We extend our care to working animals, particularly equines, by providing free medical treatment and educating their owners on proper care practices. Our efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of these hardworking animals. How You Can Help
Our work relies on the generous donations of our supporters. Donations are crucial to sustaining our rescue operations and expanding our reach. Your support can make a profound difference in the lives of countless animals.

I REALLY NEED YOU TODAY. 💔

I have tried not to keep asking. I have stretched every donation, bought winter materials little by little, and kept everything moving for as long as I could.

But now, we are running on almost nothing.

Our medicines have been ordered — but I need to pay the bill before they are released.

Our feed has been ordered — but I need to pay before it can be delivered.

And winter cannot wait. The nights are already painfully cold, while some of the warm spaces we are building for our most vulnerable animals are still unfinished.

It is also the end of the month. Wages and bills are due.

For days, hardly anything has come in — sometimes just £5 or £10 — while hundreds of animals still depend on us every single day.

I cannot stretch what simply isn’t there anymore.

Please, if you have been thinking of helping TAWF, today is the day I need you. Even £5, £10 or £20 matters when enough of us come together.

And if you genuinely cannot donate, please SHARE this. Our posts cannot reach the people who might help unless you carry them beyond our page. 🙏❤️

Good morning from some of the happiest dogs in the world. ☀️🐾❤️

There is something magical about mornings at our sanctuary.

The sun begins to rise, that beautiful golden light falls across their faces… and then they hear it.

The team has arrived.

Suddenly, everyone is awake. Tails are flying, paws are dancing, breakfast is coming, their people are here — and another safe day is beginning.

For those few minutes, you would never know how much some of these dogs have suffered.

They are simply happy.

Safe. Fed. Loved. And ridiculously excited to start another day. ❤️

And there is only one reason they get to wake up feeling this way:

YOU.

The people who donate. The people who share. The people who keep showing up for animals they may never even meet.

You turned survival into mornings like these.

Good morning from your very happy TAWF family. ☀️🐾

Sometimes, two broken stories find each other. ❤️

You may remember Shami.

A tractor had run over her leg. She had been suffering for more than a day when two tiny boys — without even shirts on their backs — somehow brought her to our hospital for treatment.

Shami was terrified of us. Every time we approached, it meant another drip, another injection, another treatment. So we treated her wounds, but we also gave her something she desperately needed — time and space to learn that she was safe.

And then came Luka.

A tiny donkey baby brought to us without his mother.

We tried everything we could to get his mother too, but we couldn't. We bottle-fed him, surrounded him with other youngsters, gave him good food, medical care and all the love we could.

But none of it could replace his mum.

What we never told you was that the stress affected Luka so deeply that, within days, he began dragging one of his back legs. You were already heartbroken for him, and we couldn't bear to show you that too. Behind the scenes, we kept working with him and doing everything we could.

And then something happened that we never planned.

Luka found Shami.

We cannot tell you that Shami sees him as her baby — we simply don't know.

But Luka?

Just watch him.

He has become her little shadow. Wherever Shami goes, Luka is there. He follows her, stands beside her and seems to find something in her presence that all our bottles, food and human love could never quite give him.

Two donkeys arrived at our sanctuary through completely different tragedies.

One needed to learn that she was safe.

The other desperately missed his mother.

And somehow, they found each other. ❤️

Perhaps rescue cannot give them back everything that was taken from them.

But sometimes, it gives them something we never could have planned.

Please help us keep giving animals like Shami and Luka the time, treatment and sanctuary they need to heal.

Oh, just WAIT until you see what we are creating for our cats! 😍🐾

It isn’t finished yet — but we can already imagine it…

Little cosy homes to climb into. Warm corners to curl up and sleep. Safe little spaces where they can hide away from the freezing winter nights.

And knowing cats… it probably won’t take long before each one decides which little house belongs exclusively to THEM. 😂❤️

Our team is still building, and there is much more to come. We cannot wait to show you the finished result — and even more, to show you these little homes filled with happy, warm cats. 🐈🐈‍⬛🏠

This is what we want winter to look like for animals who once had nowhere to go.

But we still have a long way to go before our sanctuary is winter-ready. Please help us get there. 🙏

You have cried for them. Now, please smile with them. ❤️

Lucky Star and Lucky Moon have both known lives no animal should ever have to endure. Their bodies still carry the evidence.

But suffering should not be the only story we tell about rescued animals.

Today, let’s pause the sadness and watch two broken souls being horses again — eating, arguing, flirting, getting annoyed with each other… and then standing miserably on opposite sides of the fence when we separated them. 😂❤️

Lucky Moon is currently in heat, so their first introduction became a little more “romantic” than planned! For her safety, they are temporarily separated and will be reunited once her cycle ends.

After everything they have survived, these moments are precious.

Rescue is not only about saving a life. It is about giving that life something worth living for.

If their stories brought tears to your eyes, today please smile for Lucky Star & Lucky Moon. ⭐🌙

And please help us continue giving broken animals their second chance. ❤️

Please watch all four of Lucky Moon’s legs carefully — not only the front two. Every step shows how badly her whole body has been affected.

Her ribs, hips and shoulder blades are painfully prominent. The muscles around her shoulders, back and hindquarters have wasted away, and the deep hollows around her temples show how severely depleted her body is.

Her old hind-leg fracture healed in the wrong position, leaving permanent deformity and severe arthritis. Because the bone joined out of alignment, every step places abnormal stress through that leg. She swings and crosses it as she walks because it can no longer move normally.

For years, the other three legs have compensated for the damaged one. Now all four limbs show the consequences. Her stride is short and guarded, and her hooves are badly worn from the abnormal way she has been forced to move.

Those who remember Serena will understand why Lucky Moon worries us so deeply. Serena gradually reached the stage where all four legs were affected. Lucky Moon has arrived already carrying that level of damage.

We cannot aggressively “correct” her feet or suddenly force her limbs into a normal position. Her body has adapted around this deformity for years, and Pakistan has no specialist equine therapeutic farriers available to us. Any hoof work must therefore be careful and conservative.

Our goal is simple: reduce her pain, help her gain weight and muscle, protect her exhausted limbs, and give her the comfort she has been denied for so long.

Please help us care for Lucky Moon. If you cannot donate, please share her story.

I once saw a live dolphin tied with ropes to the back of a bicycle, being carried along a road as though she were nothing more than luggage.

I have never forgotten that sight.

Since then, I have seen enough cruelty towards dolphins to know that awareness is not something we should limit to a single day.

A dolphin is not a catch. Not a possession. Not a prop for photographs or entertainment.

She is a living, feeling wild animal — and the water is her home. 🐬💙

Pakistan is home to extraordinary dolphins, including the endangered Indus River dolphin. They are part of our natural heritage, and protecting them begins with something very simple: recognising that their lives have value.

Please teach children to respect wildlife. Speak up when you see cruelty. Never support the capture, harassment or exploitation of wild animals.

Let dolphins live where they belong — wild, free and safe. 🌊🐬

Every step she took looked painful enough to break your heart.

She arrived late last night after almost 8 hours on the road.

Around 25 years old, her front legs bend badly as she walks and she is clearly in pain.

She was found tied outside by our wonderful supporters Mr & Mrs Imran Khan. Imran tried everything to get her owner to surrender her. In the end, the only way to get her out was to buy her.

She was too weak to travel then, so Imran kept her at home, treated her, and only sent her to us once she was strong enough for the journey.

Now she is finally safe. ❤️

Her blood tests are going first thing tomorrow morning.

Equine friends: what would you want investigated with knees bending like this?

She also appears to be around the same age as our blind boy Lucky Star.

Would you house two older horses like these together after careful introduction, or keep them side by side first?

And finally…

this beautiful girl needs a name. ❤️
What should we call her?

Please SHARE her story.

THE WOOD HAS ARRIVED! 😭❤️ Another winter milestone!

I am honestly so happy seeing these plain wooden pieces standing against the wall today.

Because in just a few days… you won’t recognise them.

They are about to become warm, cosy little houses for our animals. 🏠🐾

This is what your donations are doing in real time. As soon as help comes in, we are putting it straight back into winter preparation.

Even the smallest donation can become something real — a piece of wood today, a warm little home tomorrow.

Each little house costs around £8 to make, and we still need many more.

And we are far from finished.

We still need: warm shelters for the dogs who roam freely around the sanctuary, tarpaulins and winter gowns for our donkeys, more bedding and blankets, and heating solutions for our huge animal halls.

But today, I just want to celebrate this step with you.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone helping us build warmth piece by piece. ❤️

Please keep helping and SHARING — winter is already here, and we still have so much left to do.

Sometimes recovery looks like running at sunrise because you finally feel safe enough to live. ❤️

Good morning from our happy donkeys. 🫏☀️

Their morning races are nothing unusual here — running from one end of their sheds to the other, play-fighting, chasing each other and burning off all that energy.

But today, one donkey made me pick up the camera.

Look for the donkey with the cruel mark on his body left by his former owner.

When he first arrived, he was so frightened that for days he would not even go to the feeding trolley if the other donkeys were there. We had to put his food separately.

And physically, he was just as broken.

He could barely move and spent almost his entire first week on fluid therapy.

Now look at him.

Running.

Racing.

Play-fighting.

Keeping up with healthy, younger donkeys as though he has always belonged there.

That is what stopped me this morning.

It is not only that the fear has left his mind.

Life has come back into his body too.

I still haven’t had the chance to share his update with you — but I will very soon. ❤️
