From Monday 13th July, people can drop off their good condition, clean, pre-loved clothes items at the Uff Comm Fridge cabin during opening hours for the Clothes Swap on Saturday 18th July at Uffculme Village Hall. Volunteers will arrange for them to be forwarded to those in Green Team who are co-ordinating the Clothes Swap. Grab your chance to pass on some no-longer-needed items, free up space in your cupboards and of course go along next Saturday to kit yourself out with a whole new wardrobe - without trashing the planet by buying new!

☆☆ Uffculme Clothes Swap ☆☆

We have another brilliant clothes swap lined up in Uffculme in July and this time it is being held at the village hall. We will be running the event on Saturday 18th July from 10-12 noon in the main hall, and there will also be a KAG (Karen Action Group) coffee morning in the garden room at the same time.

As we have done with previous events, we will be offering the Uff Comm Fridge hub as a drop off point for people to donate clothing in the week running up to the swap. Please take your donated items (all in clean and good condition please) to the container by the surgery during opening hours (930-11am) Monday 13th to Friday 17th or drop them off to the village hall on the evening before or morning of the swap.

Visitors to Uff Comm Fridge will have noticed the lovely new herb planter in front of the 'cabin' and the smarter new sign on the other side with some of the names of our regular supporters and sponsors. Thanks to the green-fingered volunteer who planted up the herbs, our practical supporter who put up the new sign and of course to Uffculme Squirrels who raised money for Uff Comm Fridge that enabled us to get these items. Fabulous efforts everyone. Thank you!

Open as usual today, bank holiday Monday, from 9.30 to 11am (in the grounds of Uffculme branch of College Surgery Partnership, Commercial Road). Do come along and help yourself to the food that's on offer and say hello to the volunteers who have given up their bank holiday lie-in to make sure the food the stalwart collection team has picked up doesn't go to waste.

We made a start on our Spring tidy-up and clean of the Uff Comm Fridge cabin and surrounds last weekend. Tidying the growth coming through the gravel, scrubbing the front of the cabin, swabbing down the storage boxes, bench and nearby surgery railings amongst other things. Thanks so much to those who turned out to help. It's the long Easter bank holiday weekend but remember that Uff Comm Fridge will be open on both Friday and Monday mornings 9.30 to 11 to share out the surplus food collected from Willand Co-Op (and Tesco on Sunday afternoon). We were absolutely flabbergasted on Tuesday evening this week when Uffculme Squirrels visited to give us money they had raised from some sponsored walks. They raised over £200 for Uff Comm Fridge - a phenomenal effort! Huge thanks to all the children, their parents, grandparents and friends who made contributions and of course the brilliant Squirrel adults who organise the group. It's so lovely to collaborate with Uffculme Squirrels and they've made a really great contribution to this popular community initiative. We'll be thinking of the best ways of using the money to benefit users of Uff Comm Fridge and the faithful volunteers who keep it running so well. (And don't you just love that their cheque was drawn on the bank of Nutwest?!) Thank you all!

Can you believe that December has arrived already - how it creeps up on us with ever increasing speed each year! 🎄✨🎁

We are still asking for donations of sweet and savoury non-perishable food items as well as everyday toiletry products. Items such as jams and pickles, mince pies, chocolates, Christmas dinner items, tinned fruit / veg, biscuits and crackers, snacks and nibbles are all very welcome.

We are extremely grateful for all donations towards this hamper appeal, particularly at such a challenging time for everyone. Everything donated goes directly to people in need, the list of which is increasing year on year.

Please pop into the hub weekday mornings 930-11am to give us your donations or alternatively you can contact us on the phone number on the poster, or via email ([email protected]) or Facebook message. Only ten days left to donate!
