Yesterday 5th of May was the release day for Bart and Mowgli 😁
Rescued by and British Divers Marine Life Rescue volunteers, they both came to us for the second half of their rehabilitation journey, supported by a regular supply of fish from which helped them get stronger and bigger so they have the best chance in the North Sea ❤️
Bart was found with bite wounds and a heavy worm burden, as was Mowgli which they were given treatment for and have made a brilliant recovery.

Bart has gained a massive 20kg while in rehab, thanks to the care of the volunteers both at Blyth Wildlife Rescue, BDMLR and Tynemouth Seal Hospital, as well as visitors to Tynemouth Aquarium who support us with all the fish 🐟

You can support us at the charity by checking out our donation and merchandise links in our bio 🦭

Minnie and Tweety, who were "struggling to survive" when they were rescued in January, took one final glance back to their helpers before taking to the sea 🦭

Some great pictures (from a good distance!) Of Pebbles sunning herself in Scarborough ❤️

On Sunday we released Brutus back into the wild!
First rescued by Blyth Wildlife Rescue, he was brought to us and soon won the hearts of the team ♥️
He is an incredibly inquisitive boy, and showed off his speed in the larger rehabilitation pen.

He also showed his speed when he went back into the water despite all the free fish thanks to Tynemouth Aquarium

We've been waiting for a good time to share this video of Pebbles..
Rescued by BDMLR volunteers in July 2025 in Redcar, she was showing signs of the condition Mouth Rot, and came to Tynemouth Seal Hospital weighing only 9kg, she was looked after by the volunteers for three months, enjoying all the fish from Tynemouth Aquarium.
She was then released back into the wild in October, but while she was with us, the team tried to get a video of her each day, which volunteer Jessica turned into a video to show her progress and playfulness!

This month she has been spotted sunning herself in Scarborough 🦭

All of this is helped by the amazing work of the volunteers, the aquarium team and our supporters ❤️

Two more rescue seals back into the wild!
Over the weekend the team released Tweety-Pie and Minnie Mouse after their time with us.
Originally rescued by Blyth Wildlife Rescue the girls came to us for the last part of their journey.
We only have Brutus with us now, but he has been moved to the back pen so sadly can't be seen if you are visiting Tynemouth Aquarium (but there is lots more to see including the resident seals!)
