We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations. A whole gang of members of Fiona's family will be cycling from the west coast of England to the east coast - roughly parallel with Hadrian's Wall. The cyclists vary greatly in age and ability
but all share a love for Fiona and a wish to do something to raise money for charities in her memory. Fiona Hastings was a wonderful and very special young lady. She was beautiful, bright and vivacious. She grasped life in both hands and danced with it! She was greatly loved by all her family - who are spread out all over England - and her friends who were numerous and varied and from all over the world. She loved travelling, shopping and having fun with friends and family. She was struck down by Cancer of the Bile Duct in July 2014 and was unfortunate to be attacked by a very aggressive form of this cancer. It proved to be incurable and Fiona's bright light was extinguished in December of the same year. She was treated at The Christie hospital in Manchester by a most wonderful team who tried their best but while they could not cure her they looked after her in a friendly caring way. We would like to support them in their treatment of other patients in thanks for the wonderrful way they looked after Fiona. Macmillan nurses supported her greatly physically and mentally - we really appreciate their help and want to enable other people to be able to take advantage of their support too. We would also like to donate some money to Cancer Research UK. Cancer of the Bile Duct is very rare, especially in one so young, so little research has been done into the cause and treatment. We would like to support their fantastic work in the cancer field.
