Could you spare an hour a week and help older people feel confident online?

The world is becoming increasingly digital, but not everyone feels confident keeping up.

Our volunteer Digital Buddies provide patient, one-to-one support to help older people learn the skills that matter to them. Whether it's using WhatsApp to stay in touch with family, sending emails, shopping online, or understanding a new device, our Digital Buddies are there to help.

A little support can make a big difference, opening up new ways to connect, access services and stay independent.

Interested in becoming a Digital Buddy and helping someone gain confidence online?

"It no longer feels like volunteering."

Through our Befriending service, volunteers spend regular time with an older person who may be feeling lonely or isolated. Often, those visits become something special for both people involved.

"I visit someone through Age UK Tunbridge Wells every two weeks on a Saturday morning, but it no longer feels like volunteering. Over time, we have built a genuine friendship, with regular check-ins and conversations between visits. I enjoy our time together and value the connection we have developed." - Kerry

We're always looking for new Befriending volunteers to help reduce loneliness across Tunbridge Wells Borough.

A huge thank you to the team from Thakeham for spending time with us at our Day Centre recently.

They joined our clients for chats, shared stories, and even treated everyone to a wonderful performance of songs from years gone by, bringing back plenty of happy memories.

It's always so special when local businesses take the time to connect with older people in our community. Simple conversations and shared experiences can make a real difference.

Thank you to everyone at Thakeham for your support and for helping make the day such an enjoyable one for our clients 💙
