We tasked some of our young carers who took part in online workshops with Rab Ferguson to create their own short stories for a chance to win Rab's young carer book series; 'The Late Crew'.

There were lots of fantastic and imaginative entries and therefore have future plans to demonstrate the talent of our young carers.

We are delighted to announce the winner of our young carer short story competition, aptly on the young carer focus day of Carers Week as Tegan, aged 10 from 👏

Read Tegan's story which follows Evie back to the 1980s!!

Not only did we love reading this, we enjoyed creating images to bring your story to life! We know that this will inspire many young people struggling to find their voice 💜

Today is the young carer focus day of Carers Week

💜 We had the pleasure of visiting Wentworth Primary School in Dartford to capture their Forest School fun and hear from registered young carers.

This video highlights why it is so important for us to be working with our schools to help 'build carer friendly communities' ensuring all young carers feel seen, heard, better supported and have access to the same experiences and opportunities as their peers into adulthood.

“This is the most fun I have had for ages, I don’t want today to end.”

This Carers Week, we’re celebrating the incredible young people who dedicate so much of their time to caring for others. This week is all about recognising their contribution and making sure they have opportunities to relax, connect, and simply enjoy being young.

🚒☀️💙Our Eastbourne Young Carers had an unforgettable day out at Eastbourne Fire Station, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at the amazing work firefighters do. Thank you to all the incredible Firefighters for welcoming our Young Carers and sparking their excitement and curiosity!
After the visit, young carers and staff headed to the park for a sunny picnic filled with laughter, games, and some very competitive rounds of UNO!

We're proud to be supporting Carers Week 2026

This week we will be hosting a series events for unpaid carers living in The City of London, Havering, Kent (Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley, and Swale), and Lewisham.

What's on for carers today:
✔️Horizon 22 Viewing Towers Tour for carers and an information afternoon with Adult Social Care in the City of London
✔️Carers information stall at Rainham Library in Havering
✔️Come and chat to us in Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford
✔️Carers living in Gravesham can join us for a picnic on the Promenade
✔️Information sessions and mini training workshops for all thing caring in Lewisham
