Truro Lions Club We are a group of 28 like minded men and women proud to be members of an International organisation.

Truro Lions Club Lions Clubs International is the largest service organisation in the World, with the motto “We Serve”. Truro Club was formed in 1970 and received its Charter on March 17th 1971. Our web page www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/trurolions/

We are always on the lookout for new members and were pleased to welcome our first lady member during 2012. Truro is a busy Club and It is very much appreciated that not everybody can be involved, all the time, for all sorts of personal and business reasons. The time and commitment given is determined by individual members.

Brenda and I delivered another donation on behalf of Truro Lions to the Callington Hub of the Cornwall and Devon , Sending Love to Ukraine Charity. We had a very warm welcome from all at the Hub. Terri is the organiser of the volunteers and Killon another volunteer. We omitted to obtain the names of the 2 gentlemen volunteers, apologies. We nearly took another passenger home with us, was very settled in our car and didn’t want to vacate,. Peter tried but was ignored. 🤣🤣🤣

When the awful news broke about the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet( China), Truro Lions Club quickly mobilised teams to collect for the humanitarian Appeal. Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday the 10/11/12th of September people will have seen 'Lions' around the city of Truro collecting donations. This effort was made possible by the Local Authorities rapidly responding to issue licences to collect. Big to them.

The response from the people of Truro and many visitors was as usual excellent ! Over the 3 days we collected a total of £1,112 plus separate donations and top ups which comes to a grand total of £1,300 which will be transmitted to Nepal/China very shortly via Lions Clubs International.

Many thanks once more to those who contributed to this outstanding donation.

Also, thanks to our teams of Lions and Partners and friends for their efforts collecting around the City Centre, which included 3 Nepalese Gentlemen and the Mayor of Truro Chris Wells.

CRYSTAL GOLF UPDATE!

With regards to our recent post covering our 2026 Crystal Golf competition we can now announce that we have raised just in excess of £10,500!! the large percentage of which will be donated to Cornwall Blood Bikes with a smaller amount reserved for other local good causes

THE CRYSTAL - GOLF COMPETITION 2026 - 35TH EDITION STARTED IN 1991

On Friday the 4th of September the Lions Club of Truro held their annual Crystal Golf Event at Truro Golf Club . The weather at the start of the day was very mixed with plenty of Cornish Mizzle but gradually improved during the day

Thanks are due to the golf club, in particular Dom, the Head Green Keeper , and his team, who did a fantastic job in preparing the course , many thanks to them, also to the Golf Club for allowing us to hold another successful charity event we are grateful for their help and support in the run up to the event, and for the excellent meals provided throughout the day by Jess and her team.

Forty-Six Teams took part in the competition, another fantastic turnout ! Thank you everyone for entering!

In the evening, an Auction took place together with a raffle, both being extremely well supported and raising significant amounts of money for this year’s main cause - CORNWALL BLOOD BIKES and a smaller portion for other local good causes. Thanks to everyone who purchased Auction Items and entered the raffle.

The total amount raised will be published shortly.

MC Julian Collinson whodid a fine job started off the evening proceedings by announcing the Auction with Will Biddick of Lodge and Thomas doing a star job managing as the Auctioneer, Thank you, Will.

This was followed by Speeches from Lion President Geoff Kaye, Truro Golf Captain Simon Finn and Cornwall Blood Bikes Chair Jayne Penlerick

President Geoff Kaye addressed the audience thanking all teams for taking part in what was a very enjoyable days Golf , to all our generous Sponsors in particular principal sponsor James Miller and Associates, main sponsors Paul Mcintosh , Handelsbanken and noting new sponsors CVS Vets Group, Landers Court part of the Crystal Care Collection and .TaurFlex.
President Geoff finally gave thanks to our Lions Crystal Committee, members, partners, and friends, for all their hard work over many weeks organising the event.

Truro Golf Club Captain Simon Finn then said a few words and was presented with a cheque by President Geoff for his chosen charity the Merlin Centre

Finally, Jayne Penlerick from CORNWALL BLOOD BIKES gave her vote of thanks to all concerned giving some statistics about the operational mileages and running costs .

Following the Speeches , President Geoff Kaye together with Club Captain Simon Finn presented the prizes to the Competition Winners.

Truro Lions Club have been successful in obtaining a Street Licence to collect in Truro City Centre on September 10/11/12th , between 10am and 4pm each day to raise funds for the victims of the Nepal/China floods. We will accept donations by cash or card .

Lions and Partners were out in force on Saturday the 29th of August at Portscatho Regatta to run our Cuddly Lion Tombola Stall raising money for our local charities

The weather this year didn't match the lovely weather of 2025 with sporadic outbreaks of rain . This didn't seem to deter our usual customers, and the numbers grew during the day as events on the beach were concluded.

The stall was selling tickets to win Cuddly Lions of various sizes and there were plenty of happy winners !

The Truro Lions team agreed it was a fantastic day for everyone. A total of £612 worth of tickets were sold . Many thanks to everyone who participated.

This is a regular feature of the Truro Lions calendar. We have attended this event for over 40 years and is a fixture we eagerly look forward to.
