💜⭐ TODAY IS SUDEP ACTION DAY – 21ST OCTOBER 2026 ⭐💜

💜 For our beautiful Charlie, forever 10, and for every precious life lost too soon. 💜

Today is a day that will always hold a very special and heartbreaking place in our hearts at Charlie’s Star Charity.

Our beautiful little boy Charlie died suddenly and unexpectedly, just one week after celebrating his 10th birthday. 💔

Charlie had never been diagnosed with epilepsy. He had experienced one known seizure. His second seizure was fatal.

Just like that, our world changed forever.

We were a happy family of four, with our whole lives ahead of us. We never imagined that we would be saying goodbye to our precious 10-year-old son.

💜 WHAT IS SUDEP? 💜

SUDEP stands for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. It is when someone with epilepsy dies suddenly and unexpectedly, with no other cause of death found.

It can happen to children and adults, sometimes during sleep, and tragically, some families have never even heard of SUDEP until they lose someone they love.

💜 DID YOU KNOW? 💜

⭐ At least 21 people die every week in the UK from epilepsy-related deaths.

⭐ Up to half of these deaths are believed to be SUDEP.

⭐ Many epilepsy-related deaths are potentially preventable through better awareness, understanding of risks and appropriate care.

21 people every week. 21 families facing unimaginable heartbreak. 💔

Behind every statistic is somebody's whole world.

For us, that somebody was Charlie.

Our beautiful, cheeky, mischievous little boy who should have celebrated his 25th birthday on 4th October this year, but who will remain forever 10. 💜⭐

We share Charlie’s story because not every child who experiences a seizure has a diagnosis of epilepsy.

We want families to understand the importance of taking seizures seriously, asking questions, seeking medical advice and knowing about the risks.

Awareness matters. Education matters. Conversations matter. And lives matter. 💜

For 15 years, we have spoken Charlie’s name, shared his story and campaigned for greater awareness and improved care.

We cannot change what happened to our darling boy, but if sharing his story helps save another precious life, then his legacy will continue to make a difference.

Today, we stand alongside SUDEP Action: Making every epilepsy death count, remembering every child, young person and adult whose life has been cut tragically short.
