⏳ THIS SATURDAY! 👗🥾

FROM LARKHILL WITH LOVE 💜

This Saturday, 29 August, we’ll be pulling on our trainers, throwing on the ballgowns & walking in memory of a very special little boy. 🌟

Charlie Burns was just 10 years old when he tragically passed away. He was part of the local Larkhill military family & 15 years later, his memory continues to inspire something incredibly special.

To mark 15 years since we lost Charlie, we are re-walking his final journey — from his home in Larkhill to Salisbury District Hospital.

But this is Charlie’s Star… so naturally we’re doing it in BALLGOWNS! 👗😂
And yes, there will be fundraising buckets too! 🪣💷

💜 WE NEED YOU!

There’s still time to SIGN UP & WALK WITH US — you can tackle the whole route or join us for part of the journey.

🏁 START: The Packhorse, Larkhill
📍 STOP 1: New Inn, Amesbury
📍 STOP 2: The Bridge, Upper Woodford
📍 STOP 3: Wheatsheaf Inn, Lower Woodford
📍 STOP 4: Salisbury Market Place
🏁 FINISH: Salisbury District Hospital

Don’t fancy walking? You can still make a huge difference by sponsoring us.

Every pound raised helps Charlie’s Star Charity fund £500 respite breaks in Cornwall for bereaved families who have lost a child, giving parents & siblings precious time together away from the pressures of everyday life — a peaceful bubble where they can rest, talk, cry, laugh & begin to find a way forward together.

So dig out the ballgown, tutu, prom dress, cape — or whatever fabulous creation you can find — & join us for what promises to be an unforgettable day. 👗🥾🌟

What a fantastic Fun-raising Bingo Night at Indian Queens Cornwall ! 🎉🌟

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along, bought books, took part in the raffle, helped behind the scenes & supported Charlie’s Star Charity. 💜

There was plenty of laughter, some very serious bingo faces 😆, lots of ‘I only needed one!’ moments and, of course, those all-important shouts of BINGO! (even if mine was a little late) 😂

But what made the evening even more special was seeing an amazing community coming together to support our little charity. We were absolutely blown away not only by the incredible amount of money raised, but also by the individual offers of support, help & opportunities that came from people in the room. That kind of community spirit means more to us than we can ever properly put into words. 🌟💜

Every penny raised helps us continue Creating Hope & Smiles for bereaved families who have lost a child by providing our fully funded respite breaks in Cornwall.

We really couldn’t do what we do without the amazing people who support us, champion us & help open doors for Charlie’s Star. Thank you for making it such a brilliant night and for showing just how powerful a community can be when it comes together. 🥰

And a very special thank you to those behind the scenes that arranged, baked, set up and gathered the amazing prizes🫡 without you all we could not make it happen. 💜🌟

There are some partnerships that mean more than words can ever express, and our relationship with SUDEP Action: Making every epilepsy death count is one of those. 💜

We are incredibly proud to work so closely with SUDEP Action, a charity that has been such a huge part of our journey since we lost our gorgeous Charlie.

Over the years, we have been honoured to raise tens of thousands of pounds in Charlie’s memory, supporting SUDEP Action and the incredible work they do, including EpSMon.

Every penny raised, every conversation started and every bit of awareness created is a step towards preventing another family from having to endure the unimaginable heartbreak of losing someone they love to epilepsy.

We owe SUDEP Action so much. They have helped us turn the pain of losing Charlie into something positive — giving us a way to honour his beautiful life while helping to protect others.

Charlie will always be at the heart of everything we do at Charlie’s Star, and our promise to him is that we will never stop raising awareness, supporting vital research and doing whatever we can to create hope and smiles for other families. 💜⭐️

Together, we hope that one day no family will have to experience the devastating loss of a precious child to this silent killer.

“We are incredibly proud to have raised tens of thousands of pounds over the years in support of SUDEP Action and EpSMon, in memory of our gorgeous little boy, Charlie, and all of our precious purple angels.

Every pound raised and every conversation started, gives us hope that together we can prevent more families from experiencing the heartbreak of losing a loved one to this silent killer. We will continue to do everything we can to raise awareness, support initiatives like EpSMon, and help drive research forward in the hope that one day there will be a cure for epilepsy.” (Jan & Barrie Burns, co-founders of Charlie’s Star)

Transforming steps into hope. 🌟

On Saturday 29th August 2026, the community will come together for Ballgowns and Buckets—a 20-mile charity walk in memory of Charlie Burns, marking 15 years since his passing.

Charlie and his family were a local military family who lived in Larkhill when sadly he passed away at Salisbury District Hospital. They founded Charlie’s Star Charity in his memory to support families facing the heartache of losing a child.

Organised by Charlie’s Star Charity, this event raises crucial funds to provide fully funded respite breaks in Cornwall for bereaved families navigating the loss of a child. Each break costs £500, offering a peaceful space for families to rest and process during unimaginable grief.

How you can get involved:
* Walk with us: Register for just £10 and walk the full 20 miles or a shorter stretch.
* Dress up: The theme is formal wear, capes, or tutus—with spot prizes for best dressed!
* Corporate Support: Gather a team from your workplace to walk, network, and give back.
Let's use our steps to make a tangible difference.
