Active Plus Team Building, Confidence and Motivation, Leadership and Resilience training delivered by Veterans

Established in 2011 by ex-fireman and entrepreneur Tim C***s, Active Plus deliver Team Building, Confidence & Motivation, Resilience and Leadership training. Problem solving activities are used to:

Help young people engage more effectively with each other and their learning setting

Help unemployed people to unlock their potential and get work ready

Encourage older people to build friendships and become active in their communities

Help businesses through motivational and development training for business leaders and their workforce. Instructors are military veterans, most of whom have physical injuries or experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The veterans start their journey with Active Plus as volunteers, building their own confidence, motivation and skills through helping and inspiring others. Some go on to paid full or part-time employment with Active Plus, others go into jobs with other organisations or start their own businesses. For Active Plus, all of these outcomes are positive and demonstrate the effectiveness of our unique delivery model – Veterans Inspiring People.

📣 This programme could benefit your/your child's school.

🔔 "Military Roots" is a fantastic programme designed to improve confidence, connection, aspirations and self-belief in Primary and Secondary school students in Cornwall who have a parent(s) currently serving in HM Armed Forces.

The programme is being delivered as part of the Service Pupil Programme funded by Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, working alongside Cornwall Council Education Business Partnership.

After a period of leave, Veteran Instructors Pete.B and Rob.S are back providing confidence, resilience, and team building activities.

Today, they join Community Engagement Officer, Abbey, delivering Session One of the Connecting Communities Course for Promas Carers.

It is great to meet inspiring people, hear their stories, and provide support.

It is good to be back!

Another 'Meet the Team' feature for the weekend!

Say hello to Suzanne, our Marketing and Communications Officer!

Suzanne is one of a few members of the team who are primarily office based and low-key! You may not see her in person as you would the Instructors and community based team members, but Suzanne's work is fundamental to the running of Active Plus.

Effectively the 'loud speaker' for the team, Suzanne ensures all projects are communicated to the relevant audience at the right time, in the appropriate way. Suzanne also writes our blog posts for the company website (have you read them yet?!).

Suzanne is pretty quiet but she does love a good chat over a cup of tea!

A map can sometimes tell you more than a set of statistics ever could.

🟦 Our Active Plus Armed Forces Community Social Prescribing Link Worker service supports Veterans, serving personnel and Armed Forces families across Cornwall.

📍 The map shows the geographical spread of our service and the communities we support. Each area represents a catchment area where people are accessing our free, one to one, face to face and person centred support.

🟩 Cornwall is a large and rural county, so one model will not work for everyone. Our team takes support into local communities, helping remove barriers such as transport, distance and accessibility.

🌟 This is why community based support matters.

We need to keep investing in this approach so that Veterans and Armed Forces families can access the right support when they need it.

‘Too many doors? How people navigate access to healthcare in Cornwall’

Healthwatch Cornwall make sure people's views and experiences influence decision making at the heart of Cornwall's health and social care.

They want to hear from as many people as possible, especially those whose voices may not always be heard. If a survey link isn’t the easiest way to take part they can provide paper copies, Easy Read, or talk it through on the phone.

Is it always clear where to go for health or care support, or does the sheer number of routes into the system (GP, pharmacy, 111, urgent treatment centres, community hubs etc) end up becoming a barrier in itself?

🌟This is a great opportunity to convey your experiences, concerns, needs, suggestions, and help shape the future of healthcare in Cornwall*.🌟
