Seaquest Southwest

Seaquest Southwest Seaquest Southwest is a citizen science marine recording project run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s

Seaquest Southwest is a long-standing project that has relied on our volunteers and the general public sending Cornwall Wildlife Trust their records of sea sightings such as dolphins, whales and other marine wildlife. As a result, there has been a steady stream of data over the years which have given us a fantastic insight into our Cornish cetacean population. The Living Seas team have produced a

programme of exciting events for the upcoming Spring and Summer of 2015 including: public sea watches for everyone to get involved, seaquest sundays for trained volunteers to carry out a survey and the very first Basking Shark Roadshow! If you'd like to get involved or want to receive any information please do email us at [email protected]

🌟 Superlative Seabirds of the Southwest 🌟
An online winter talk from Cornwall Wildlife Trust

We’re excited to welcome Samuel Wrobel, RSPB Senior Marine Policy Officer, for a fascinating evening all about some of Cornwall’s most incredible seabirds.

Seabirds are true ocean legends — living long lives, often pairing up with the same mate for life, and travelling thousands of miles across the seas. They play a vital role in marine ecosystems, helping move nutrients between sea and land, and they’re key indicators of how healthy our oceans really are.

In this special winter talk, Samuel will share insights into the lives of some of our most charismatic Cornish seabird species, along with handy ID tips to help you spot them in the wild.

📅 When? Wednesday 18th February, 7pm
💻 Where? Online (Zoom)
💙 How much? Donate what you can — all proceeds go directly towards supporting Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s marine conservation work

🎥🐬 Check out this incredible drone footage of Risso’s dolphins playing in Falmouth Bay! These deep-diving, scar-covered dolphins are a special sight.

Huge thanks to the drone operator for capturing this responsibly, maintaining distance and using a telephoto lens. Respecting wildlife is just as important as celebrating it. 💙
