Touch Eldoret A Christian charity based in Truro,Cornwall, working in Kenya Our charity has a vision to touch the lives of the people of Eldoret in Kenya, East Africa.

Eldoret is the fifth largest town in Kenya. Situated 165 miles North West of the capital city of Nairobi and 493 miles from Mombasa, the main coastal city. It is 6.800 feet above sea level, and has the benefit of great beauty and cooler temperatures in spite of being so near the equator. We have a special interest in the lives of Joseph, his wife Jackline and their three children who live in an ar

ea that is growing and expanding but has many extremely poor families. Joseph is a young Pastor who qualified from college in Mombasa in June 2011 and had started a small church in his home. This grew within a few months so that by Christmas 2011 there were over 100 including children. The numbers are still growing. It is by meeting these people, we realised that there is a great need for a centre for health, and education, especially for many work related activities. Their vision is for us to help them create a Centre for the Community. It could then be used for many purposes for the people of that area of Eldoret. For example
Church gatherings, medical clinics, training for new vocational skills and having fun. Fund raising has been in the form of:
Car Boots
collecting of clothing,shoes, handbags, books and bric-a-brac
Auctions
Small monthly gifts
Collection of scrap metal
Sale of free range eggs
and a motley array of other ideas

Our Story

Our vision is to touch the people of Eldoret, in Kenya, and to see their lives transformed.

Touch Eldoret is a small Christian charity, based in Truro, England. Over the last ten years, we have built up a relationship with members of the Christian community in Eldoret. We work to support them in their aim to see the local people lifted out of poverty. Jobs are scarce and poorly paid. Many cannot get enough food to eat or send their children to school. Diseases are often caused from lack of simple hygiene and nutritional balance. Water supply can be unreliable, causing crop failures and greater vulnerability to diseases. Together we want to address these problems and see lives transformed.

We are supporting local people by providing children’s school fees and essential medical costs, resourcing adult education and training, and helping people to start and develop small businesses to enable them to provide for their families. Our focus is on helping in ways that will enable the people of Eldoret to meet their own needs in the future.
