A big thank you to everyone our Hydrotherapy Fund supporters.

Thanks to donations, the Hydrotherapy Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital has been able to purchase two new shelving units for their pool area, helping staff store and access equipment more easily for patient sessions.

While a simple addition, improvements like this make a real difference to daily working life and help the team focus on delivering the best possible care and rehabilitation for patients.

The team is incredibly grateful for the support of everyone who has donated to the Hydrotherapy Fund. Every contribution helps improve services for patients and staff.

Thank you to Life's A Beach Cafe for raising an incredible £800 for our Cove Fund!

The fantastic total was raised through sales of their calendar, a fundraising day, donations collected in their counter tins, and an amazingly generous gesture from the cafe team, who personally matched the amount raised.

A huge thank you to TGJones for generously donating a wonderful Geoffrey Giraffe bench to the Children's Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

We're also grateful to local business P.Abraham & Son Bodyshop Truro who very kindly helped collect and deliver Geoffrey to the Play Team.

As you can see, Geoffrey is settling into his new home beautifully and is already helping to brighten the day for children and families visiting the unit.

Thank you to everyone involved for supporting our young patients and helping make our hospital a more welcoming place.

New Picnic Benches Installed at The Cove Thanks to Charity Funding

Patients, families and staff visiting The Cove Macmillan Support Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital can now enjoy two new outdoor picnic benches, purchased by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

The benches provide a welcoming outdoor space where people can sit, relax and spend time together while using the centre.

Funding for one of the benches was kindly donated by the Cornwall Prostate Support Association (CPSA) in memory of former Chairman Rob Quigley, who died from prostate cancer in October 2025. Rob was a dedicated and well respected member of the group, known for his positivity and commitment to supporting others. A plaque will be added to the bench as a lasting tribute to him.

Karen Murrish, Fundraising Manager at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, said: "We're delighted to jointly fund these benches for The Cove. Outdoor spaces can make a real difference to wellbeing, and we're incredibly grateful to the Cornwall Prostate Support Association for their generous support and dedication to helping others."

The Cove offers wellbeing support and information for people affected by cancer and other long-term health conditions, as well as their families and carers. The new benches will help create a comfortable and accessible space for visitors to enjoy throughout the year.

Come along to Truro Golf Club on Friday 16 October for a special day of golf and fundraising at the 3rd annual Karen Mayne Memorial Day.

The day will feature:
Charity golf competition
Raffle with fantastic prizes
Charity auction
Cakes available throughout the day
Evening entertainment with a DJ

There are still a few tee times available, so if you'd like to take part, get in touch with the organisers (see email in image) or sign up at the clubhouse.

This year's event will raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK and the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity Bowel Cancer Screening Service Fund, helping to support bowel cancer awareness, screening and patient care.

Get ready for a night of laughs in support of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity!

You are invited to Comedy Charity Night featuring comedian Johnny Cowling on Friday 30 October at Falmouth Town Football Club.
All proceeds from the evening will support Pendennis Shipyard Ltd Charity of the Year, Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

Supporting stroke recovery through technology

Thanks to charitable funding, iPads are now being used across our stroke services to benefit patients in Cornwall.

These devices are helping clinicians deliver more engaging and personalised rehabilitation, with access to interactive apps and digital tools that support the assessment and recovery of visual, language and cognitive functions following stroke.

Patients now have access to interactive education resources that help them better understand their condition, take an active role in their recovery, and build confidence throughout their rehabilitation journey.

This is just one example of how donations to the Phoenix Stroke Fund are helping to enhance stroke care and improve outcomes for people across Cornwall.
