The thing about trees is that they grow really really slowly.. however what’s beautiful about them is their slow but steady growth, in a world that favours instant results and speed. And what was previously mown grass is now becoming a little woodland.
This is the little 1/2 hectare planting site at Cusgarne Farm.
Keep an eye out for more photos from the other planting sites as the midsummer checks are completed 😊

One of 200 oaks planted at Woodland Valley Farm.
Trees are remarkable. The huge winds that ripped through this area last week and have done so much damage to buildings and property, have had… zero effect on these little guys.
Just bobbing away in the breeze and winter sun.

Very happy to see this big old oak, with all its woodpecker holes survived the storms at Cusgarne!
Hedgerow management on farmland is a dilemma... manage your liability for hedges bordering public footpaths and roads... and chop down beautiful old trees like this. Or keep them as they are providing valuable shelter and habitats and run the risk of them falling!

The purpose Field to Forest has, and always will be, supporting planting trees in areas that can’t be used for cultivation on farms or allowing cultivation to still continue.
By default this usually means small steep sections, funny little corners of fields, the buffer zone of a river or a agroforestry project which blends trees with agriculture.
Tree planting projects globally are usually in the thousands of hectares to make them cost efficient and viable. So we are pretty happy with making sure that every tree that could get planted, gets in the ground 😊
If you want support tree planting in the UK, give us a shout 🌳

Wishing everyone a very happy new year and a grounded, rooted, wonderful 2022.
The New Years resolution for Field to Forest is to continue to support farmers in getting trees in the ground and connecting companies to these farmers so they can have environmental impact in a way that supports farmland and its inhabitants.
There are some exciting new projects in the pipeline, so very much looking forward to sharing these soon.

So, the summer has well and truly gone... which is sad.
HOWEVER! This also means it’s almost planting season again! YES! Time to get more trees in the ground!
With the worlds eyes on COP, and the multitude of challenges facing our communities, I think we all want to feel like we can make an impact.
Well, you can, in the UK, on farmland that is not suited to growing food!
We urge you as a business or individual to MEASURE your emissions, CONSIDER and REDUCE them, WHEREVER you can. And then look to organisations who are providing high quality sequestration or avoidance projects.
To get your business on a pathway to BEING low carbon and SUPPORTING projects, talk to us.
We have some really beautiful projects throughout Cornwall and also in Portsmouth, where you can be involved and support. Including a brilliant new agroforestry pilot project.
