Petition against Cornwall Council's decision to resume using Glyphosate
Cornwall Council has informed town and parish councils that its wholly owned contractor Cormac will resume widespread use of the chemical weedkiller glyphosate on roads and footways throughout Cornwall.

In 2020, Bayer announced it would pay up to $10.9 billion to settle about 125,000 filed and unfiled claims that people’s health had been damaged through the use of its glyphosate herbicide.

Various countries in Europe have either bans or partial bans on its use including France, Germany, Belgium and Holland.

The license for its use by the Health and Safety Executive expires on the 15th December 2026 while it considers new scientific evidence. With the possibility that its use will be banned in the UK next year this is not the time for Cornwall Council to resume using it.

Please sign the petition and share.

YOU are invited to come and do something a little different Tomorrow afternoon (21st). At Carnon Downs Village Hall, your local Women's Institute and Cornwall Climate and Nature Hub will be showing two short fascinating films made by local award winning film makers, Cornwall Climate Care. These 30 minute films, although about serious and concerning subjects, focus on the wonderful, inspiring local Cornish individuals and groups who are working to improve outcomes for all of us. There will be gorgeous WI cakes and refreshments, please bring some change in case you're tempted (you will be) and stay at the end to have a chat about the issues raised in the films with the hugely knowledgeable Luci Isaacson of Climate Vision, https://climatevision.co.uk and Jon Hinkley from Hendra Croft Sustainable Farm. We hope you will chose to join us for this FREE event.

Exciting news from Cornwall!

The Athena Learning Trust is leading the way with a groundbreaking new role: Head of Catering, Health and Wellbeing.

Their vision says it all: "We believe that education does not stop at the classroom door, and we are on a mission to prove that high-quality nutrition and holistic wellbeing are not add-ons to a child's education, they are the very foundation of it."

This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking approach our schools need. Quality nutrition and student wellbeing aren't extras—they're essential to learning and development.

Know someone exceptional who could make a real difference in this role?
