It's a sad day for the Hub. We have finally applied to voluntarily dissolve the CIC. Many, many thanks to all who supported us while it was going, especially to Mary Lindsay, friend of the Hub and her fantastic fellow WI Climate Ambassadors who helped with events and outreach!!

Petition against Cornwall Council's decision to resume using Glyphosate
Cornwall Council has informed town and parish councils that its wholly owned contractor Cormac will resume widespread use of the chemical weedkiller glyphosate on roads and footways throughout Cornwall.

In 2020, Bayer announced it would pay up to $10.9 billion to settle about 125,000 filed and unfiled claims that people’s health had been damaged through the use of its glyphosate herbicide.

Various countries in Europe have either bans or partial bans on its use including France, Germany, Belgium and Holland.

The license for its use by the Health and Safety Executive expires on the 15th December 2026 while it considers new scientific evidence. With the possibility that its use will be banned in the UK next year this is not the time for Cornwall Council to resume using it.

Please sign the petition and share.
