*Change of Plan*

Due to the adverse weather warning our Good Friday Sunset Service is moving indoors to the Epiphany House chapel. So we will not be at Porthtowan beach.

As we mark the death of Jesus, we’ll journey gently from light into shadow. Expect stillness, candlelight, and a shared space for reflection.

Looking forward to seeing some of you there 🌦️

Good morning everyone 🕊️

Here are today’s prayers from the common book of prayer for ordinary radicals.

“Free us, Lord, from the chains of death: that we might work for love and life.”

For those that are able, we will be in the Truro Cathedral Vestry and on Zoom from 9:00AM to pray together, or feel free to say these prayers at home in your own time. The Zoom link is in our WhatsApp group description.

If you have any specific prayer requests please let us know!

Bless you all.

This Sunday 3rd November we have our pilgrimage to St Crida’s in Creed, near Grampound. The pilgrimage is instead of our morning service at Epiphany House, so please don’t go there! (unless you fancy some alone time)

What to expect:

This pilgrimage will mostly be in and around the churchyard at St Crida’s, and so (hopefully) suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness. There are a few muddy paths, so bring suitable footwear. We’ll spend a bit of time exploring the churchyard and surroundings, including popping down to the river Fal. We’ll hear the story of St Crida and there are some liturgies, prayers and songs that we can say together.

If you’d like to join us, send a message letting us know and we can give you more information 🙂

Black History Month has been observed since 1987 and it aims to celebrate and honour the contributions and struggles of people of African and Caribbean heritage have made to British and global society.

Racism is at root an issue of power, the limiting of the capacity of certain people and groups to act whilst privileging and promoting the capacity of others, solely on the grounds of racial characterisation. Our worship and the life of the Church are not exempt from these dynamics, and we must confront the ways they shape our faith and practices. We want to lament and remember the black voices and stories which have been erased from our histories.

In our slides, we include a quote from Cole Arthur Riley - a writer and poet best known for her project Black Liturgies, an online space that integrates spiritual reflections with the experience of Black life.

We also celebrate the work of James H. Cone, a pioneering theologian and the founder of Black Liberation Theology. His work sought to reframe Christian theology through the lens of the Black experience, focusing on the struggle against racism and the fight for justice as central to the Christian message.

In this season, may we renew our commitment to listen deeply, act courageously, and hold space for the stories that must be told.

Another Way begins a new chapter by meeting at Epiphany House on Sunday mornings.

We’ve been popping up in living rooms and fields around mid-Cornwall for the past eighteen months, but we now have the opportunity to experience life in this glorious former convent, which previously housed the Sisters of the Community of the Epiphany.

We’ll continue to do pilgrimages and other outdoor adventures, but it’s exciting to have somewhere we can call home for this new season.

Our Sunday morning community started as a place for those who feel at the edges of religion, but are looking for somewhere to find connection and a spiritual home. Our services are informal with plenty of space for conversation and moments of sung worship, liturgy and prayer inspired by Taize and Celtic Christianity.

If you’re interested in exploring with us what the way of Jesus can teach us today, you’re welcome to join us, whatever your background or beliefs.

Come from 10.15 on Sunday for coffee. Our meeting starts at 10.30. Address is Epiphany House, Truro, TR1 3DR.

If you have any questions, please drop us a message :-)
