It was fantastic to see 81 members of the Armed Forces Community attend our Armed Forces Hubs and Women's Health and Wellbeing Day last week.

Some joined us simply for a brew (wet) and some camaraderie, while others accessed specialist advice, practical guidance and support.

Although our hubs can get busy, we always have access to a private room or quieter space whenever it's needed.

A big thank you to all the organisations and volunteers who helped make these events possible, including Healthy Cornwall for their support with our Women's Health and Wellbeing Day.

We would also like to say a special thank you to Cornish Lavender and St Eval for their generous donations of wonderful items for the gift bags at our Women's Health and Wellbeing Day.

Sharing for Turn to Starboard - they will be holding their next Mess Deck Morning on Wednesday 21st October from 10:00 to 12:00.

T2S will be holding our next Mess Deck Morning on Wednesday 21st October: 10am - 12pm.

These events are part of an ongoing series, and are a chance for us to connect with more veterans in our local community and importantly, to facilitate connection among veterans themselves.

We hope to reach more of you this month, so please spread the word and come along for free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and lots of cake!

⚓ Royal Naval Benevolent Trust – Supporting the Naval Community

Georgie from the The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust (RNBT) will be joining our Helston Armed Forces Hub this morning.

The RNBT provides financial assistance, practical support and care for serving and former Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families who are experiencing hardship or need additional support.

Georgie can help with advice and information about:

- Financial assistance – grants for individuals and families experiencing financial difficulties.

- Household essentials – support with food, clothing, energy bills and essential household goods.

- Housing costs – help with rent, essential home repairs and adaptations.

- Mobility and medical aids – assistance with equipment to support independence.

- Respite and care – support with respite breaks, domiciliary care and care home costs.

- Training and education – financial assistance towards education and training.

- Funeral expenses – support with funeral costs.

- Support for older veterans – information about residential care and nursing care.

Come along for a free brew (wet), friendly conversation and the opportunity to find out what support is available.

⚓ Celebrating National Cadets Week 2026!

This week, we're recognising the incredible contribution of cadets and the dedicated adult volunteers who support them across Cornwall.

We're proud to support the cadet movement, with two members of our team supporting the Helston Sea Cadets Committee.

Through their cadet experience, young people develop valuable life skills including leadership, teamwork, communication, confidence and resilience. These skills can support them throughout further education, future careers and everyday life.

🙌 A fantastic day spent with our wonderful Armed Forces Hub volunteers!

Today’s training day was not only an opportunity to complete essential training, but also a chance to come together, share ideas, exchange feedback and learn from one another.

Most importantly, it gave us the chance to say a huge THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers for their time, dedication and ongoing support.

Although not all of our volunteers could join us today, our appreciation extends to every single one of you. Your commitment and willingness to give your time makes a real difference to our Armed Forces Community.

A special thank you to Rowe's Cornish Bakers for their very generous donation of delicious pasties, which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!
