18th Truro (St George's) Sea Scout Group
‘Every child has the right to an adventure. The prizes don’t always go to the biggest, the best and the strongest – they go to those who persevere. These are simple life lessons that Scouting teaches.’ Bear Grylls – Chief Scout
Scouting offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We do some pretty amazing things

in Scouting, but for us, adventure is a way of life and not just an activity or expedition. Our Scouts grow in confidence by trying out new skills and stretching themselves. Challenges
Whether it’s the youngest Beaver trying their first sleep-over or an Explorer trying out the local language on an international expedition, each time we challenge ourselves, it’s a step forward. When a Scout stands up to a bully, or sticks up for what they believe in; that’s an adventure. If you have any queries for specific sections please contact the following emails:

Happy Founders’ Day!

From Baden-Powell’s small camp on Brownsea Island to more than 1,000 young people discovering adventure at Kernow Jamboree, the spirit of Scouts remains the same - try new things, work together, and make memories that last.

A massive thank you to every volunteer who makes these moments possible. If you’re ready to help young people find their own adventure, we’d love you on the team.

Thank you to all the young people and volunteers who attended the Remembrance Day parade this afternoon. We are incredibly proud of how our young people represented 18th Truro Scouts with maturity and respect.

We also managed to dodge the worst of the weather, which was a welcome bonus.

Thank you all for being part of such an important community event — we couldn’t be prouder.

🌟 Thank You for Joining Our AGM & Celebration! 🌟

We had an amazing time yesterday at our AGM and celebration event! Our young people enjoyed knot-tying, raft-building, and teamwork challenges — finishing with marshmallows and hot chocolate. ☕🔥

A big welcome to our new Trustees and thanks to those stepping back for their incredible contributions. We’re also excited about our new Group Administrators and volunteers joining the Building Maintenance Team.

Congratulations to all Scouts achieving Chief Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, and thanks to the adults who continue to support our group. Special shoutout to leaders celebrating milestones in their service! 🎉

The evening ended with hotdogs, marshmallows, and a lively campfire singalong — a perfect celebration of our fantastic community. Thank you to everyone who came — we can’t wait for another great year at 18th Truro! 💛

🌟 Could You Be Our Next Group Administrator? 🌟

We’re looking for someone organised, friendly, and willing to lend a hand behind the scenes at 18th Truro Scouts!

Our Group Administrator plays a key role in keeping everything running smoothly — helping with meeting admin, records, and communications so our leaders can focus on giving young people amazing adventures.

You don’t need to be a parent or have Scouting experience — just a bit of free time, good organisational skills, and a willingness to help. It’s a flexible, supportive role that makes a big difference to how we run.

🗂️ Tasks include:
• Helping prepare agendas and minutes for Trustee meetings
• Supporting annual admin (like reports and the AGM)
• Keeping our records up to date and organised

This is a great opportunity to use your admin or coordination skills to support a local group that helps young people grow, learn, and have fun!

Interested or want to know more? We’d love to chat!
