If you missed Gardeners’ World last night do take a look at the programme via iPlayer to see one of our WRAG Scheme BBC Beautiful Borders Live contestants Ellen Pye of .gardening talking viewers through the inspiration for her design, and some of the 400 plants that have been in residence at her home, taking up every spare corner in readiness to travel up to the NEC for the build from tomorrow.

Timings-wise, Ellen’s VT can be seen at 33:40 - 36:21 within the programme.

Below, Ellen briefly describes her design:

‘May Morning’

“This border is inspired by the living tradition of Morris dancing, a joyful celebration of nature, community, and the turning of the seasons. I am part of a newly formed Morris side called Heaps Morris, and we have been dancing together since 2023.

Being part of this group has been a transformative experience for me. This garden tells the story of how, through dancing, I have
found a community seeking to reconnect with nature and the land.”

Thank you to all our supporters for helping us to hit the 6k followers mark on Instagram!

With your help we’re reaching more and more garden owners, head gardeners, gardening teams and managers that share our ethos and want to help those seeking to transition careers into gardening and the horticultural industry.

With your help and that of our members and event attendees we can continue our work in matching trainees-in-waiting with gardens throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

A very big thank you again and here’s to ever moving onwards and upwards!

🙌

The hard work of the last 7 or so months is almost over for our BBC Gardeners’ World Live Beautiful Border competitors.

As ever our team is made up of current WRAG Scheme trainees and newly qualified WRAGS Alumni.

The work started in late 2025 when these brave horticulturalists dug deep, applied to become one of our 2026 entrants, and came up with a design inspired by this year’s theme of ‘Once Upon A Time’. Since then the work has included sourcing items and features for their Borders along with bringing their plants on, and dealing with the added complication of unseasonably hot weather bringing flowers into bloom way earlier than anticipated.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has so kindly donated items and advice, and sponsored our gardeners this year - you’ve all been so generous. We look forward to seeing you, our competitors, and their completed Borders, in all their glory next week!

After all this we’re sure you’ll want to join us in wishing Alice and Georgina .spencer.gardens & , Tom
, Kate
, Sarah
, Heather
, Ellen .gardening, and Chris
the very best of luck as they travel to the NEC this weekend, transporting all their plants and Border features, and commence the build of their Beautiful Borders!

Tickets to the Show in Birmingham can be purchased from the Gardeners’ World Live website, and the Show opens to the public on Thursday 18th June through to Sunday 21st.

Please come along to see our competitors and their Borders, and say hi also to the team on our stand alongside.
