We continue to monitor the zoo site and those who have connections. Interesting to see Reform have control of Nottinghamshire County Council and Reece Oliver attending events with its party leader, who is on record pro fox hunting, at Fripps Farm Animal Rescue Maximus Gala Ball this weekend. Trying to build up more political influence for personal gain, who knows. We continue to watch 👀

📢 Upcoming Local Elections: Time to Reflect and Question the Liberal Democrats and Their Connections 📢

As the local elections approach, it's crucial for residents in Trowell to not only evaluate candidates based on their promises but to scrutinise their past actions and associations. Transparency and accountability should be the foundation of our local governance.

Spotlight on Hannah Land and the Liberal Democrat’s - Who is standing for election representing the district covering Trowell
Remember during planning discussions on the Zoo, Hannah Land, representing the Liberal Democrats, notably spoke in favour of the controversial zoo development—a development fraught with questions about political connections and hidden motives.

❓ Key Questions for Voters:
Why did Hannah Land champion the zoo project, despite widespread concerns from the community?
Could her support be influenced by connections within her party, particularly regarding the Oliver family—key figures both in the zoo project and past Liberal Democrat candidacies?

Unveiling the Connections:
🤔 David Watts: The current Liberal Democrat candidate knew about the zoo plans well before they were public and instructed fellow councillors to keep them confidential. Why the secrecy from someone who claims to value open governance?

🤔 The Oliver Family: Prominent in the 2023 local elections, with several members standing as Liberal Democrat candidates. Notably, Kane Oliver, co-owner of the zoo, is now with the Broxtowe Independent Group. Could political aspirations and private interests be intertwined?

🤔 Steve Carr: A former Liberal Democrat, now with the Broxtowe Independent Group—interestingly, alongside Kane Oliver. What does this shift reveal about party dynamics and loyalties?

🤔 Tim Hallam: Another former Liberal Democrat, who played an instrumental role as an ‘Engineer’ in the zoo’s design, directly assisting the Olivers during the submission of the plans.

Reflecting on the Impact in Trowell:
When the threat of development by the Olivers loomed over Trowell, were the decisions made truly in the public’s interest, or were they shaped by a web of political and personal connections?

✅ As You Head to the Polls, Consider:
What motivated the secrecy surrounding the zoo development plans?
How do Liberal Democrat ties with the Olivers influence local governance?
Are these candidates genuinely representing you, or are hidden agendas at play?

Demand Transparency. Demand Accountability. Your vote can shape an open and honest future for Trowell.

📢 Upcoming Local Elections: Time to Reflect and Question the Liberal Democrats and Their Connections and what impact they had on Trowell when the threat of development by the Olivers was present 📢

As the local elections approach, it's vital for residents to examine not just the promises made by candidates but their past actions and associations. Transparency and accountability must be at the heart of our local governance.

Let’s turn our attention to David Watts, standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate. It has come to light that Watts was aware of the controversial zoo development plans in Trowell well before they became public knowledge. More concerningly, he requested that fellow councillors keep these plans under wraps. The question remains—why the secrecy?

❓ Why would a candidate committed to open governance ask others to conceal significant development plans from the public?

❓ Could the timing of this secrecy be linked to the fact that several members of the Oliver family were running as Liberal Democrat candidates at the time?

Connections Worth Scrutinising:
🤔David Watts’ Role: His knowledge of the zoo plans and directive to keep them undisclosed raises serious questions about transparency.
🤔The Oliver Family: A notable presence in the 2023 local elections, with family members standing as Liberal Democrat candidates.
Political Networks: The overlap between party affiliations and family interests cannot be ignored, especially when these may influence local decisions.
🤔Steve Carr, was a Lib Dem at the time, and is now a Broxtowe Independent Group candidate, as is Kane Oliver the co owner of the zoo
🤔Tim Hallam, was also a Lib Dem for Stapleford at the time of the plans being submitted, he actually helped the Olivers design the zoo as their ‘Engineer’

This intricate web of political ties and decisions demands our attention. Are these actions truly reflective of public interest, or do they suggest deeper, undisclosed motives?

🤔 As voters, we must ask:
What were the real reasons behind David Watts’ request for secrecy regarding the zoo development?
How do the connections within the Liberal Democrats, particularly with the Oliver family, affect local decision-making?

When heading to the polls, consider not just the surface of campaign promises but the underlying connections and actions that shape our local communities. Demand transparency. Demand accountability. ✅

📢 Holding Them Accountable: The Broxtowe Independent Group & Lib Dems – A Closer Look 📢

As we approach the local elections, it's important to stay informed about the decisions made by those seeking your vote. Today as always, we're focusing on a key issue: the controversial Trowell zoo development and how both the Broxtowe Independent Group (BIG) and the Liberal Democrats played a role.

Talk to others to remind and inform them of the past record of these parties and candidates impact on Trowell. Make sure they are fully in formed, we also encourage asking all candidates questions on all matters not just this historic plans for the zoo.

🔎 Voting Records Matter:
When the zoo proposal was presented to the planning committee, both BIG Broxtowe Independent Group and the Lib Dems voted in favour of the development. This was despite widespread concerns about its potential impact on the green belt and flood plain in Trowell, and the impact on flooding on the Erewash and potential impact on boundary brook and neighbouring Stapleford.

💼 Connections Worth Noting:
The Oliver Family members previously stood as Lib Dem candidates just last year. Kane Oliver, co-owner of the failed zoo project, is now standing as a Broxtowe Independent Group candidate in the upcoming election.
Shared Interests: These overlapping affiliations raise questions about whether decisions were made in the public's best interest—or influenced by personal and political connections.

💡 Questions to Ponder:
❓ Why did both parties support a development that posed environmental risks, despite community opposition?

❓ How do the personal connections to the Oliver family affect the impartiality of their decisions? Steve Carr voted in favour, now he’s in the same political party as Kane Oliver!

❓ Can candidates truly represent the community when their business interests may conflict with public welfare?

The pattern is clear. It’s not just about past votes; it’s about the networks that influence them. As voters, it’s crucial to dig deeper than party labels and slogans.

🗳️ Your Voice Matters:
When you cast your vote, remember these decisions. Demand accountability. Question the alliances. Think about if candidates prioritise community interests over personal gain.

📢 Digging Deeper: The Broxtowe Independent Group – Are They Truly Independent? 📢

As the local elections draw closer, it's imperative we continue to question the motives, connections, and finances of those seeking our votes.

We are calling this out so you can discuss with others so they are informed of the connections to people who proposed to develop the green belt and flood plain in Trowell for their own benefit. To some past actions, or lack of actions, matter on how they represent your local area in the future, so we are sharing now so you are informed about candidates in the upcoming local elections.

The Broxtowe Independent Group may carry the word 'Independent,' but let's not be swayed by labels. They are a registered political party, complete with leadership structures, financial obligations, and shared agendas—far from the image of lone, unaffiliated representatives.

🔍 Consider These Connections:
Richard MacRae: The leader of the Broxtowe Independent Group, steering its direction and priorities. Never spoke out against the zoo development either publicly or off the record. But the development could have impacted flooding downstream on the Erewash in Stapleford and Boundry Brook, the area he represents.

Steve Carr: The party’s Treasurer, responsible for managing its finances. Notably, Carr voted in favour of the controversial Trowell zoo development despite his ties to the Notts Wildlife Trust, which opposed the project.

Kane Oliver: Their candidate in Brinsley district and co-owner of the failed Trowell zoo proposal. How do his business interests align with public service?

💡 Questions to Ponder:

❓ How transparent are the financial dealings within the Broxtowe Independent Group, given Carr’s dual political and financial roles?
❓ What influence does MacRae wield over candidate decisions, and how independent are their policy stances really?
❓ Does Kane Oliver’s business history with the failed zoo venture raise concerns about his priorities as a potential councillor?

These connections aren’t just coincidental—they form a network of influence that deserves our scrutiny. Are these individuals truly working for the community’s benefit, or do personal and political interests intertwine?

🗳️ As voters, let's not take ‘Independent’ at face value. Demand transparency. Question the motives. Scrutinise the finances. Your vote is your voice—make it count for genuine accountability.

📢 Upcoming Local Elections: Time to Reflect and Ask Questions of Lib Dem’s and the Broxtowe Independent Group 📢

As we approach the upcoming local elections, it’s crucial for residents to reflect on the actions and associations of those who seek to represent us. Transparency and accountability are the cornerstones of effective local governance.

Let’s consider the case of Steve Carr, representing Beeston North under the Broxtowe Independent Group. Carr was one of only two councillors on the planning committee who voted in favour of permitting the controversial zoo development in Trowell. This decision raises some pressing questions:

❓ Why did Carr, a Nottingham County Councillor standing for re-election, strongly support the zoo development despite significant objections, including from the Notts Wildlife Trust—an organisation he is a declared member of?

❓ If Carr is so pro-development, why hasn’t he advocated for a suitable brownfield site within his own ward, closer to the town centre, as planners suggested when critiquing the Trowell location?

Connections Worth Noting:
Carr’s Political Journey: Formerly a Liberal Democrat, Carr now stands with the Broxtowe Independent Group.
Kane Oliver: Also a Nottingham County Councillor, aligned with the same group.
Development Ties: The development plans were crafted by former Lib Dem councillor Tim Hallam.
Family Political Network: Reece Oliver, along with his family (mother, brother, and then-girlfriend), stood as Liberal Democrat candidates in the 2023 local elections. Kane Oliver ran as an ‘independent’.

This web of political affiliations and decisions demands scrutiny. Are these actions genuinely in the public interest, or do they reflect deeper, less transparent motives?

🤔 As voters, we have the right to ask:
What are the true reasons behind Carr’s Broxtowe Independent Group unwavering support for this development?
How do the connections within the Broxtowe Independent Group and their links to the Olivers influence local decisions?

Let’s ensure our votes are informed by facts and critical thought. Demand clarity. Demand accountability. ✅
