Our priority for this year is to protect members pay and existing terms and conditions of employment. We represent members who work for a wide range of public sector employers. A large percentage work for Wiltshire Council, other employers include (not an exhaustive list): Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service, Swindon College, Wiltshire College, New College Swindon, a number of town councils, residential and care providers, and a large number of schools.

Neil Guild and Sharon Foster have been nominated by your branch in the elections for the union’s Local Government Service Group Executive

Elections to the Local Government Service Group Executive have begun.

You will receive an email ballot paper and a postal ballot – use either to decide who will represent you

Your branch nominated Neil Guild and Sharon Foster. We have nominated them because they are both very experienced activists who have a track record of delivering for workers in local government across the region.

They have promised to fight for:
• A fair pay rise for all council and school workers
• An end to outsourcing - councils should deliver their own services
• A National Care Service so all social care is properly funded and care workers get paid a salary they deserve
• Better funding for schools
• Workplaces free of racism, sexism, homophobia and disablism

Showing solidarity and support with our comrades from the National Coal Mining Museum for England on day 133 of their strike

Picket Day 133

Day 133 outside the National Coal Mining Museum for England — and the solidarity is as strong as ever.

Smiles on faces.
Placards in hand.
Resolve intact.

These are the skilled, dedicated workers who keep the museum running safely and professionally. They don’t want to be on strike — they want a fair, transparent pay settlement and meaningful dialogue.

The message remains simple and factual:

Crossing a picket line means you are extending the strike.

A resolution is possible. It requires engagement, openness on the finances, and a serious offer. Until that happens, our members will continue to stand together — calmly, lawfully, and determined.
