We deliver weekly sessions from April - Dec in the Grounds of Bedwellty House Tredegar and at Augusta park Ebbw Vale. Wild Tots Blaenau Gwent offer stay-and-play style sessions for parents/carers and their children to enjoy together albeit with a difference – based in the great outdoors, where children have the freedom to explore nature, learn new things and foster a lifelong love of the outdoors.
Wild Tots Blaenau Gwent aims to promote children and adults to be active outdoors throughout the seasons and to embrace all weathers. They believe in building a positive outdoor experience for both children and adults by:
• Igniting children’s natural curiosity about the world outdoors and allowing them to explore and create with freedom
• Creating a community for adults and their children to be together on their journey through their early years
• Creating an environment where children are encouraged to do and try new things and have the space to develop trust in themselves and just as importantly for adults to have the confidence to trust their child in risky play.
• Supporting the development of enhanced social skills such as increasing resilience, growing in collaborative play and problem solving.
• Supporting children to acquire healthy sensory and motor development as a result of the free play and creative environment
Weekly sessions are aimed at children aged 0 to 5 years where children can play, explore and get muddy as they take part in exciting woodland themed adventures, have fun and get closer to nature. We welcome older siblings during school holidays. Wild Tots create special places for dynamic child led play providing endless opportunities for children to explore and discover. Sessions vary depending on the weather, the time of year and activities are planned according to the seasons and what is happening in the woods at that time. It’s a short walk from the car parks to our sites, where toddlers can explore the woods, help collect sticks for the campfire, take part in one of our Forest School activities, including sensory play, play in nature, hide and seek in the fairy grotto or dinosaur den, build dens or create wonderful mud pies in our mud kitchen. Our session campfires provide a focal point while drumming up a healthy snack and an all-time end of session favourite, toasted marshmallows. There’s always time for tea/coffee for the adults, followed by story time or a song to end the session.
