Tomorrow we say a final goodbye to staff member Kat Skwara who has been supporting young people with Recharge since 2008, Kat always seen the best in everyone she met and has made a massive contribution supporting young people in Tranent and the villages, we will live stream her funeral at Recharge at 12.30 for young people or anyone who would like to go along but can't make it along to East Lothian Crematorium. Our thoughts are with her family tomorrow as she was truly one of a kind

✨ At yesterday’s P7 transition session, we had some S1’s delivering a presentation and chat with the P7’s about what S1 is like

👏🏻 The presentation was fantastic, and the S1’s were incredibly responsible, reassuring and have given the P7’s more to look forward to about high school. Thank you S1’s for all you hard work.

🙏🏻 A big thanks to Mrs Archer (Ross High Deputy Head Teacher) also for coming in to speak with the P7’s and answer some of their questions.

🍓 We also made some tasty fruit kebabs (and some interesting combos!)

Our charity number is SC036626 and our charity name is ‘Tranent Youth and Community Facility’

We would love it if anyone was able to nominate us for this charity giveaway. If we were lucky enough to win this money, it would allow us to continue to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people in the Fa’side area.

✨ Was brilliant to be at the finals of the YPI project at Ross High School this morning

🗣️ Thank you to the group of young people who represented Recharge in their presentation - it was a brilliant presentation and you did yourselves and Recharge proud 🫶

👏🏻 Well done to all the other groups who also delivered a presentation. It is not an easy thing to get up on a stage and speak in front of a hall full of people, so huge credit to all of you. You were all fantastic!

💵 Congratulations to The Fraser Centre on being awarded the £3000 prize, and an even bigger congratulations to the 2 lads who gave an outstanding presentation - really well deserved win👏🏻

✨ On Tuesday at our P7 Transition Group, the theme was resilience.

🍝 Young people demonstrated being resilient when working in teams to build spaghetti and marshmallow towers

🧘🏼 We then looked at a few different coping strategies that can be used when we feel stressed or anxious, particularly at transition events or at high school.

We practiced
• Calm breathing
• Muscle relaxation
• Mindfulness
• Painting and thinking about calm images
• Using helpful kind & coping thoughts instead of negative thinking

🧪 Really enjoyed helping out yesterday at the science session from the Support for Learning team’s enhanced transition at Ross High

🔥 P7’s from different primary schools got to use Bunsen burners, burn different chemicals like magnesium, and even watching the staff getting our hands set on fire!

👏🏻 All the P7’s did brilliantly and gave the activities a go! Well done guys.

🧠 Mental Health Awareness Week 🧠

😰 As part of our P7 transition targeted programme this week, we have been discussing anxiety

💭 We have been thinking about how anxiety is a useful tool but when we have too much of it, how this impacts our thoughts, feelings, our body and our actions.
