William Rufus Lodge 6979

William Rufus Lodge 6979 A Freemasonry Lodge within Hampshire & Isle of Wight. We're a friendly, modern Lodge promoting friendship, personal growth, respect, and charity

Meeting at Totton Masonic Centre on the 3rd Wednesday of February, March, May, October and November at 6 pm. William Rufus Lodge was consecrated on the 1st June 1950 within the Province of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We meet five times a year at Totton Masonic Centre, Lexby Rd, Totton, Southampton in Hampshire SO40 9HD - on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in Feb, March, May, Oct and Nov start

ing at 18.00, and are followed by a relaxed and enjoyable dinner, wrapping up around 9:00 PM

We’re a small, friendly lodge with a big heart. Our members span a wide range of ages and backgrounds, with many working family men, mostly from the Southampton area, though some travel from further afield to join us. So, whether you live in Totton, Hampshire, or beyond, you’re warmly invited to become part of our friendly community. Founded in 1950, we’ve recently celebrated our 75th anniversary with pride. While much has changed since our early days, the core values of Friendship, Integrity, Respect and Service still remain strong. Our evenings follow a structured agenda, similar to other organisations. As a progressive lodge, we encourage personal growth and development at a pace that suits each member. Our meetings also include ritual work (learning some lines, much like in a play), which many find both rewarding and enjoyable. Charity is at the heart of what we do, both individually and as a group. We have a lot of fun volunteering, raising funds and organising social events, including meals out, day trips, and gatherings where partners are welcome. One of our highlights is the formal partners’ dinner, where we celebrate the important role our loved ones play in Freemasonry. Joining William Rufus Lodge means becoming part of a supportive team of like-minded individuals who enjoy coming together—formally and informally—to make a positive impact in life, and have fun along the way. 👣 Over the bank holiday weekend, W.Bros Ross, Stephen, Ash and Ross's wife, Claire embarked on a grueling charity walk. 100k London to Brighton in aid of The Firgrove Centre.

🌞 The weather was unbelievably hot, over 30 degrees for most of the day, and not much better through the night. Ash dropped at the 80k mark after battling with sun stroke, the rest of the team then pushed on and crossed the line Sunday morning in a little over 24 hours. An outstanding effort in extraordinary conditions.

🙌 The team would like to thank each and every one of you for the kind support, messages of encouragement and the donations. The total is currently at an incredible £1705 for the charity and there is still time to donate.

❤️ The charity is one very close to Claire and Ross's heart as they continue to support them whenever they can.

🥳 Fund raising events at William Rufus are always special occasions, last night was no exception. We filled the room at Wellow Golf Club last night as our WM Mark Dwelly and his wife Kay hosted a very special evening in aid of Tourettes Action.

👫 As we dined together with members of the lodge, many members from other Lodges, friends and family, we enjoyed music, fantastic food and a superb atmosphere as is renowned at our Lodge.

❤️ Both WM Mark and his wife Kay gave heartfelt speeches, thanking everyone for attending and paid tribute to those who helped throughout to put on such a successful evening.

⭐️ A bumper raffle, and auction, expertly ran by W.Bro Dave Chislett and his assistants, raised an incredible £1150 for the charity.

🕺 The evening went on into the night with fantastic live music and a lot of dancing. This really is what our Lodge is all about. Fun, friendship and charity, three core principles that we are very good at and so proud of.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone that attened to support the evening and making it such a success.

✅️ If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, just drop us a message. We are a fun, friendly and modern Lodge with friendship and charity at the heart of everything we do.

❤️ It was a real privilege to attend the South Central Area charity evening last night. 36 local charities came together to tell their stories and receive cheques representing donations from the various Lodges across our area.

✨️ We were honoured to host representatives from our chosen charities, The Firgrove Centre and MyTime. £53,194.89 was presented over the course of the evening, an incredible sum that showcases the charitable undertakings of the Lodges in our area, over the last 12 months.

🤝 The Right Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Southampton, James Ballie was in attendance, he was presented with a cheque to his chosen charity, by our Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro Jonathan Bell. A humbling evening that really makes all the fundraising that we do, worthwhile.

✅️ If you're interested in knowing more about what we do, and why we do it, drop us a message. We are very open and accessible and ready to answer any questions you might have.

Children who have experienced domestic violence are more likely to struggle with mental health problems, low self-worth, develop unhealthy coping mechanisms and may begin to repeat behaviours seen in their domestic setting.

Thanks to your generous donations, we are proud to be supporting dozens of charities every year who help make a lasting difference to children affected by domestic abuse ❤️

Last Wednesday we Initiated another young man from the Totton & Waterside area, into our wonderful Lodge. Our Lodge prides itself in its flexible approach to the modern worning man.

He told us at dinner that he had a fantastic experience, and was already getting to know many friendly guys, which was great to hear. He is now looking forward to many years of Freemasons and the journey of discovery and learning that lays ahead.

We are also now the proud holders of our Bronze Festival certificate. The Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire & Isle of Wight is currently raising funds for the Masonic Charitable Foundation and we have reached a significant milestone in our Lodges fundraising efforts. This is testament to our fantastic Charity Steward Bro Neil Trueman whose hard work and dedication to the role is exemplary.

If you are interested in knowing more about us, what we do and who we are, or about Freemasonry in general, just drop us a message!
