Volunteering with The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is a rewarding way to support horse welfare, learn new skills and meet new people.

We have a variety of roles available, including:
🛍️ Retail Volunteers: supporting our charity shops across Devon in Bovey Tracey, Newton
Abbot, Babbacombe and Brixham
🐴 Sanctuary Care Volunteers: working alongside our grooms caring for rescued horses and ponies (no riding involved, full training provided)
🌿 Estates Volunteers: assisting our estate rangers with upkeep across our horse care sites
🎪Events Volunteers: supporting us at open days and external events throughout the year
🤝Corporate Volunteering: solo or group days across a variety of roles, perfect for team building while giving back

Join us for a day of foraging and willow craft! Enjoy a foraging walk along our green lanes followed by a delicious lunch of wild foods. Then spend the afternoon weaving willow bird feeders in our shady woodland glade.

Summer has arrived! On Saturday 6th of June we'll be foraging the seasonal edibles in our hedgerows and coppicing green hazel to weave with willow to create beautiful hanging bird feeders for our gardens. Join us for a relaxed day in nature alongside our rescued ponies. Booking link below.

Our next event is in a month's time. We'll be finding out even more about the abundance of Spring edibles growing all around us and Hannah will teach us some quick and easy ways to preserve their goodness to last all year round. You'll go home with a jar of your own homemade kimchi and hopefully be inspired to keep your kitchen stocked with our UK native spice cupboard plants.

It was so great to share a day of foraging and wood carving with Hannah and Daniel last Saturday. The dock seed crackers and seaweed and wild garlic tapenade was so delicious, as was the rest of the wonderful lunch Hannah prepared for us.
