This brilliant piece of intercultural remote theatre, perfomed by girls from Gaza and Pakistan, was one of the winners in our 2023 competition, and we travelled with the girls from Gaza to represent their play in Ramallah and Jerusalem that summer. Huda, the girl who played the traveller, is still in Gaza now and needs our support. Please give what you can.

I have to say that it is quite remarkable how many creative ways Instituto Martha Christlieb CDMX have found to build the Hands up Project into their curriculum. Today we started with a live link between the parents and one of our young actors from Gaza, Saja, now studying in Thailand. We had an interesting discussion about the power of drama and being connected to the world. Then we shared some of the poems from ‘Luna dime la verdad’ and the children wrote or drew responses to their favorite poems. We’ve also set up the exhibition around the school, so that the children are exposed to the poems every single day. Finally we rehearsed some hup plays, written originally by children in Gaza, so that the children here will be ready for their performances in front of parents for culture week.

One of my favorite poems in ‘Moon tell me truth’ is ‘Features’ by Nada Miqdad. Today in Mexico we worked with that poem with a class of 10 year olds, and the children wrote or drew responses to send to Nada.
