TRESOC

TRESOC We are a Community Energy group passionate about providing renewable energy for our local community and environment. Welcome.

We are democratic; every member has an equal vote and can engage with us formally and informally. Totnes Renewable Energy Society is an active participant in the Community Energy movement; a co-operative whose aim is to develop and invest in projects that result in the profitable supply of energy from renewable resources for the benefit of the community. Since 2007, we have identified and pursued

projects in solar, hydro, biomass and wind. Please go to www.tresoc.co.uk to and find out more about our journey and how you can invest and join.

πŸ†πŸ† What a night!

We're absolutely thrilled to share that TRESOC has won not one, but TWO awards at the Regen Green Energy Awards 2026 in Bristol!

We won the Community Energy Initiative Award, recognising the work we've been doing with Energy Local Totnes to build a fairer, greener local energy market right here in Totnes.

And in an historic first, our Managing Director, Dr Sally Murrall-Smith, jointly won the Net Zero Energy Pioneer Award alongside Dr Mary Gillie, founder of Energy Local CIC – the first time the award has ever been given to two winners!

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners, and thanks to Regen for a wonderful evening, celebrating the best of the clean energy sector.

BIG NEWS! πŸ“’ TRESOC has secured funding from Great British Energy! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§βš‘οΈ

We are proud to be part of the historic Local Power Plan, bringing Β£1bn of investment to community energy across the UK.

With this support, we are building a 100kW solar installation at Dart Marine Park at Steamers Quay. This isn't just about solar panels – it's about people power. The energy generated will:

βœ… Power local businesses at the park
βœ… Supply our Energy Local Totnes club, cutting electricity bills for local homes
βœ… Keep money circulating in our town.

This is what the future of energy looks like: local, renewable, and community-owned. Watch this space for our community share offer coming in Summer 2026!

Can you spare 10 minutes to help shape the future of community energy?

🚨 DEADLINE 5PM TODAY (14th Nov) 🚨

An electricity market regulatory change called P441 is currently out for consultation, which would make local energy supply schemes – like Energy Local Totnes – considerably more viable across the UK. P441 is essential to help protect households from energy price shocks and help us decarbonise faster.

πŸ‘‰ P441 Consultation Form: https://www.elexon.co.uk/bsc/consultation/p441-assessment-procedure-consultation-on-complex-site-classes/

πŸ‘‰ Guidance notes for TRESOC supporters to complete the form:https://tresoc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/P441-Guidance-Notes-for-TRESOC-Members.pdf

Thank you!

On Saturday 18th October, we joined fellow energy organisations and partners at Kingsbridge Community College for this year’s South Hams Energy Assembly – an inspiring day organised by Sustainable South Hams and South Dartmoor Community Energy and supported by South Hams District Council.

The event’s aim is to connect, support and inspire action to accelerate the transition to energy resilience in the South Hams. It brings together community organisations, councillors, rural businesses, housing associations and other local decision makers and interested individuals, together with experts from local energy organisations, installers and related companies.

The conversations and presentations were thoroughly engaging, focusing on practical solutions communities can implement while keeping financial benefits local – with Jem (pictured, with Caroline Voaden MP) presenting the impressive facts and figures from ELT’s first year of operation.

It was a useful reminder that we're part of a wider network across the South Hams making real change happen. The appetite for community energy solutions is huge, and it’s encouraging to see we're all pushing in the same direction.

🎬 This is the film we've all been waiting for – and it's screening at Totnes Cinema from Monday 20th - Wednesday 22nd October!

POWER STATION follows artist-activists Dan Edelstyn and Hilary Powell (the brilliant minds behind Bank Job) as they transform their ordinary Walthamstow street into a solar-powered community energy revolution.

This uplifting documentary captures the financial and emotional rollercoaster of making change happen together, and proves what's possible when communities take energy into their own hands ... something we can all appreciate.

Monday's screening includes a panel discussion with Rob Hopkins, Transition Town Totnes and TRESOC's Sally Murrall-Smith, so get your tickets now!

Power Station began in the depths of lockdown - and in the aftermath of our previous film Bank Job, where we purchased and blew up Β£1.2 million of local debt - with the question β€˜'what could we do from where we live, with the people around us, to build power - of energy and imagination?’
