Reach Charity UK

Reach Charity UK Reach is the leading charity in the UK providing support for people with upper limb differences and their families from birth through to adulthood.

Reach is the leading charity in the UK providing support for those with upper limb differences, from birth through to adulthood and their families. Founded in 1978 by two mums, Maureen Brennan and Elizabeth Southwick, who wanted to lobby the government for more help for their children. Now we have 17 Branches across the UK and are proud to support a sister organisation in the Republic of Ireland,

all run by parents and carers and people with upper limb difference. Every year they volunteer their time to organise local events big and small, from a play in a local park to family camping trips – anything and everything goes! They’re the lynch pin – keeping families in their area connected online and in person all year round. Our Trustees and Ambassadors volunteer their time to keep members connected across the UK and Ireland, to link members with opportunities, and give voice to young people with upper limb difference.

What a weekend 🌊💙🧡

Reach on the Beach 2026 was everything we hoped it would be and more.

From inspiring talks with Paralymian Ben Pritchard Ben Pritchard PLY | Para Athlete, to surfing with , adventures with Gower activities, beach games, campfires, laughter, friendship and moments that will stay with us for years to come.

One of the most moving moments came from a young person who said:

“It’s great I don’t have to hide my hand. We can all just be proud of who we are.”

This is exactly why Reach on the Beach exists.

A huge thank you Melissa and Sian M and to all our incredible families, volunteers, partners and sponsors who helped make this special weekend possible.

Special thanks to Irwin Mitchell, Brecon Carreg, Tesco, Greggs, SPAR, Bluebells & Thyme, Welsh Cottage Cakes and Captain’s Table for your generosity and support.

Because of you all, Reach families were able to create memories, build confidence, make friendships and enjoy experiences that many never thought possible.

To every child and family who joined us, thank you for bringing your energy, courage and joy. You are the heart of Reach. 💙🧡

Already counting down until next year. Who’s joining us? ☀️🏄‍♀️✨

A big THANK YOU to all of our Reach Branch Volunteers! 💙🧡

Thank you for your time, your work and your generous commitment to Reach and our children with upper limb difference. You are making a difference!

Reach Charity has 18 branches in the UK and 1 in Ireland, each run by volunteer Branch Coordinators. They are the face of Reach to new parents when their child is born with an upper limb difference and sometimes, even before their baby is born, when they learn at the 20-week scan that their baby will be born with an upper limb difference.

In fact on average every second weekend of the year, there is a Reach Branch activity arranged and carried out somewhere in the UK by a Branch Coordinator.

Our Branch Coordinators - some of whom are parents, others are adults with ULD who want “to give back” to children like them, share the benefits they have experienced by being a part of their local Reach Branch.

Join us in saying thank you by leaving a comment and any fun memories from branch events👇

Happy Volunteers’ Week 💙🧡

This Volunteers’ Week, we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible Branch Coordinator volunteers.

Across the UK and Ireland, our Branch Coordinators dedicate their time, energy and compassion to bringing our community together. From organising local meet-ups and family events to offering a friendly face and listening ear, they help ensure that no family, child or adult with an upper limb difference feels alone.

Many of our volunteers are parents, members or supporters who generously give their time alongside busy jobs, studies and family life. Their commitment creates opportunities for connection, friendship and belonging that make a lasting difference to so many people.

Reach simply couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you for your passion, kindness and dedication to our community. 🦾

Please help! Our Head of Operations filmed a video encouraging you to sign up for the first ever Reach Triathlon… unfortunately she accidentally recorded the news, so you can’t hear a word she’s saying. 😭

Please can someone sign up as a cyclist so her 2 minutes of effort weren’t in vain! 🚴

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Reach Ambassadors and are no longer able to take part in the Triathlon. However they will be attending to cheer you all on!

NEEDED: someone to jump on a bike to take part in the Triathlon along with Sarah-Jane (Reach Head of Operations) and Jay Howard (Reach Ambassador).

You don’t need to be an athlete, just willing to give it a go and help save the day!

Is this you?! Comment or DM to let us know!

*otherwise I’ll be making SJ re-film this.
