We are building affordable, sustainable housing at Clay Park, Ashburton Road, Dartington. We're a community-led charity, run by volunteers who live in Dartington & surrounding parishes, who recognised the need for affordable housing, and for sustainable housing, in the area. We own a 7 acre site (known as Clay Park), adjacent to Clay Lane, Dartington, and are building 39 highly insulated homes, b
uilt of natural materials. More than half the homes will be either social rented or shared ownership for local people in housing need, including flats for people with a learning disability and for young people. We are building on about two thirds of the site, and managing the rest for maximum bio diversity including retaining and enhancing the hedgerows, planting trees suitable for the damp clay, and including a meadow, pond, orchard and food growing area. Transition Homes is more than 'just houses' - it's about helping people to live in a sustainable way, to create a resilient community, and to be an exemplar for further developments.
