Great work from Tregonhawke RNLI lifeguards with an extremely busy start to the season responding to multiple incidents across Whitsand Bay as beach activity picked up over Easter.

Brilliant vigilance and teamwork all round 👏

RNLI lifeguards in south east Cornwall and volunteer crews from Looe RNLI responded to a busy and challenging Easter holiday incident on Wednesday 8 April, after multiple people were caught in a powerful rip off Tregantle Beach, Whitsand Bay.

We are expecting unusually large and dangerous surf conditions on many of our beaches in the South West over the next few days.
To keep yourself and our lifesavers safe, please take extra care and stay at a safe distance.
Although many beaches will be red flagged, always choose a lifeguarded beach. 🌊

Earlier this week, our RNLI Lifeguards at Tregantle beach were involved in a multi-agency rescue, working alongside Looe Lifeboat Crew, Coastguard teams, and HMCG rescue helicopter 924 to bring two people and their dog to safety.

🌊 Get ready for peak season! 🏖️

RNLI Lifeguards are stepping up patrols across South East Cornwall as we head into the busiest time of the year!

From this weekend, our local beaches will be fully staffed with trained RNLI lifeguards, ready to help keep you safe while you enjoy the sea and sun.

Our teams have been working hard behind the scenes with intensive training to prepare for everything the summer might bring — from first aid to water rescues.

✅ Lifeguards will be on duty from 10AM-6PM at:
- Tregonhawke
- Tregantle
- Sharrow
- Seaton
- Freathy (Weekends Only)
✅ Always swim between the red and yellow flags.
