Our monthly Paint Jam today at our Gallow's Park Studio: A look at Mark Rothko's colour field painting.

Rothko's works concentrated on the emotion of colour alone, buiding up layer upon layer of colour with very thin dilute paint, the colours becoming richer as the layers build.

The process alolwed us to play with colour combinations tha produced differing moods and effects. The process was very calming and relaxing in itself.

The wonderful grounds and buildings provided much inspiration for sketching and some very imaginative stories to go alongside.

The rare appearance of sunshine certainly helped.

Today's Art for Wellbeing at Torpoint Library and Community Hub : A look at cubism and the work of Pablo Picasso.

We played with perspective and viewpoints, superimposing side profiles into face on portraits and introducing further shapes, We also looked at introducing differing viewpoints of objects and landscapes into the same picture, creating these beautiful drawings and paintings.

Art for Wellness at St. James's Hall Torpoint: Our final session today, We reviewed some of the themes and processes of the past few weeks to develop our own personal posters, containing reflections on our own lives, hopes for the future amd positive affirmations to help us look forward.

Thank you to all our wonderful participants who displayed such commitment and creativity. We hope you will continue to develop your creative selves!

Today's Art for Wellbeing at Torpoint Library and Community Hub : A look at Chinese ink wash painting.

A lovely way of building up a picture with varying dilutions of black ink, going straight in with a brush and letting the ink take charge, no sketching involved.

Art for Wellness at St. James's Hall Torpoint: Continuing the creative writing theme, we played with "blackout poetry" to create new meanings from existing texts.

We also looked at how book covers use titles and colours to reflect the underlying mood and promote curiosity from prospective readers.

With this in mind, we looked at conceptual art themes to relabel everyday items, providing some thought provoking titles. We discussed how underlying ideas in art can often be more powerful than the end product
