Matthews Hall What's On

Matthews Hall What's On Matthews Hall is the community venue at the heart of Topsham. Run by Topsham Community Association, it provides a space for events, clubs, classes and meetings.

This page will tell you what's on at Matthews Hall and Topsham's Dorothy Holman Centre. The Topsham Community Association was established in the 1960s with two chief aims:
- To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Topsham and
- To establish and maintain a community centre. The association is now a company limited by guarantee, but its aims remain the same. The directors are volunteers elected

at an annual general meeting, to whom all residents of Topsham are most welcome. What we do:

We hold the lease on Matthews Hall and the surrounding land and run it as a community centre for the benefit of residents. All running costs are paid for by hall hire and activities organised by the Topsham Community Association (TCA). Since 2019 we have managed the Dorothy Holman Centre at the rec in Ferry Road. Phone Veronica for hire of either venue 01392 876865. We organise the Saturday Market, which is an important contributor to the income of the TCA, and a valued weekly event for the people of Topsham. We organise a weekly Tuesady afternoon Seniors "youth" group at the Dorothy Holman centre. We appoint the Topsham town crier. We hold events to raise money for Charter day or the Christmas lights appeal.

This Saturday (9th May), see the National Theatre's All My Sons, on screen at Matthews Hall. Recent winner of two Olivier awards, this production has received rave reviews: " Every scene is strong, no actor stealing the show, each raising the power of the ensemble as a whole. There is so much alchemy here – it just dazzles and dazzles." (The Guardian)
