Our amazing Vet Students Maddie and Ellie on their work experience have been out today to collect a tortoise found wandering in the woods in Oxted. A very lovely couple out for a stroll kindly recovered the tortoise and brought him to Tonbridge station so we could collect him, Mr Choo Choo is now staying with us at the Centre. If you are missing a tortoise in Oxted or surrounding areas then please get in touch with us. We hold all found tortoises for a minimum of 6 weeks whilst we try to locate the owners.

Phew what a day! Vets today for all the animals that needed procedures that can’t be done at the centre. 3 X-rays and 2 surgeries. Sadly not all the results we hoped for and let’s just say Sheila the Snapper was not happy about seeing the vet!

Whilst there we have had so many calls about stowaways, sorted 3 and ended up collecting a gecko on the way back from a lovely lady.

Got back, unloaded and went to collect a tortoise with a badly injured leg from the lovely team at Vets for Pets Orpington.

And tonight, a rescued froggy! We are seeing an increasing number of poorly animals arriving at the centre, people are struggling financially. We want to say a huge thank you to the incredible team at Alfold Veterinary Surgery who helped care for our animals today and our amazing vet from Origin Vets. He has seen around 20 of our animals this week and always gives us the best care and advice! We haven’t posted the gory pictures!

We have a few animals arriving at the centre and with our partner rescue South East London Reptile Rescue that have been found wandering in the wild. If you are missing a Snake, Tortoise or Bearded Dragon please get in touch so we can work out whether the animal we have is yours. Evidence such as photo's or videos and a detailed description of location will be required.

Animals found in the wild stay with us for a minimum of 6 weeks whilst we try to find the owner, tortoises are checked for chips.

We thought it might be helpful to create a video to show people how to bath their tortoise. This is Aiden, one of our volunteers who has been bathing our tortoises today.

Did you know you can volunteer at the NCRW if you are over 16 years of age?
