The WI are working to equip women and communities with the knowledge and confidence to recognise domestic abuse, challenge stigma and speak up. Please consider donating if you feel able to.

This funding will help us to:

• Train WI members to become No More Violence Ambassadors.
• Develop new educational resources and campaign materials.
• Increase understanding of domestic abuse, including coercive control and other non-physical forms of abuse.
• Equip members with the confidence to speak about violence against women in their communities.
• Support members to organise awareness events, talks and local activities.
• Encourage community action during the UN's 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

We are pleased to have forged links with Kent Police due to our annual vigil in Tonbridge to remember and support victims of gender-based violence, so we want to highlight a couple of
drop-in surgeries that they are holding soon about violence against women and girls (VAWG). These sessions are open to everyone.
You can meet local officers, ask questions, and share your concerns in a safe and supportive space. They will also explain what help is available and what they are doing to keep people safe.
You do not need to book. Just come along and speak to them - these are the upcoming Tonbridge dates:
- 29 September 2026 - 10am to 11am, Co-op Food, York Parade, 11 York Parade, Tonbridge TN10 3NP
- 13 October 2026 - 1pm to 2pm, St Stephen’s Church, 37 Waterloo Road, Tonbridge TN9 2SW

The WI campaigns both locally and nationally to improve the cleanliness of our rivers and our National Federation acts as the Secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Microplastics.

This week, the Microplastic Filters (Washing Machines) Bill is back in the House of Lords, calling for mandatory microplastic-catching filters in all new domestic and commercial washing machines.

The APPG on Microplastics’ new report clearly shows that our wastewater systems are a major pathway for microplastics release into the environment and farmland, and we need interventions upstream to stem the flow.

The WI supports the Microplastics Filters Bill.

Tons N Roses WI has an activism group for those of our members who what to get involved in this and other local and national issues.

The climate and nature crisis is no longer a warning about the future. It’s here and now.

Communities can’t wait while wildfires, floods and droughts devastate homes, harvests and livelihoods.
burnham has a choice: prioritise people or polluters. That’s why we’re calling on him to take stronger action to Secure Our Future and:

- Reject all new oil and gas licences, including Rosebank
- Meet the UK's international climate and nature commitments
- Pass the Nature + National Security Bill

Tons N Roses WI meet in person in Tonbridge and stay connected via a vibrant WhatsApp Community which is exclusive to our members. However, if that is not your thing, there are other options, including virtual WIs, where it doesn’t matter where you live! This includes a number of trans-inclusive pay-as-you-go sisterhood groups, such as Foxy Sisters in Surrey - they are a great option for all women living as women and hopefully a stepping stone for when all WIs can be fully trans-inclusive again.
