We've been lucky enough this year to receive the amazing support from a Calderdale charity dedicated to providing food banks with dog food, Mabel's Meals. Their generosity has ensured no pawfect pooch has an empty bowl!🐕

Since their monthly drop-ins, the team has dished out over 50 meals a month - meaning many a tail is wagging for dinner time 🐾

They're at Tod College every fourth Saturday of the month:

- 22nd August
- 26th September
- 24th October
- 28th November
- December - TBC

If you're a local charity or business wanting to help out the residents in your community and can spare a few items, do drop them off on Fridays, Saturday 9 - 11am, or drop our team a message for longer term partnerships at https://todfooddropin.org/contact/

With the summer holidays in full swing, many parents are on the lookout for fun and affordable activities to keep the kids entertained!

Thankfully, the wonderful team at North Halifax Partnership and Family Hubs Calderdale have pulled together a handy calendar of all the free and affordable events, play spaces, and support hubs for parents throughout the summer.

After 26 years at the Community Foundation for Calderdale, CEO Steve Duncan is due to retire this year.

He’s been a huge supporter of our drop-in centre; however, his passion for the people of Calderdale doesn’t stop there.

To celebrate, he's established The Steve Duncan Fund – Helping Young People Embrace Opportunity, managed by Community Foundation for Calderdale.

It will help young people overcome barriers, realise their potential, and access opportunities they might otherwise miss.

To launch the Fund, Steve and a group of friends will take on the Centurion Challenge on Sunday 25th October, cycling 100 kilometres around Calderdale.

They have a small number of places available for experienced cyclists who would like to join them in their challenge. If you’re interested, do get in touch.

If you would like to support Steve and his friends taking part in the Centurion Challenge, donations are welcome via https://localgiving.org/fundraising/The-Centurion-Challenge

We're excited to share that the drop-in has recently received a few grants!

Thanks to this support, visitors can now enjoy even more fresh fruit and veg while they wait to collect their food - a popular addition that helps us ensure everyone has access to nourishing and healthy foods.

Thank you to everyone who said hello to the team on the day - Ian, Sue and Margaretta on Saturday at the Community Volunteer Pop Up at Todmorden Town Hall.

It was lovely to meet new people - and hopefully, new prospective volunteers - even if it was an incredibly hot day!

If you’d like more information about what we do, please visit todfooddropin.org/contact/, or if you’re interested in providing a helping hand on either Friday or Saturday mornings, do drop a message!

Families across Calderdale are preparing for the summer holidays, which start from Friday 17th July.

According to Save the Children, 1 in 4 children experiencing poverty in the UK are at risk of going without food.

To make sure everyone has access to nourishing meals and snacks to keep energy up this summer, we're putting out a community call out to request that people check through their cupboards or pop an extra treat in their weekly shop📝

Some of the most-needed items include tinned fruit, cereal, pasta, tinned meals and healthy snacks. Every donation helps keep kids full, so they can focus on making memories and enjoying their time off.

Know of any kids’ clubs or family activities taking place throughout July and August? Share them in the comments - let’s help each other out!

Want to drop off donations? Just swing by on Fridays (9am–12pm) or Saturdays (9am–11am)

If you're a local business wanting to help the community and have useful products, reach out to us on Facebook or via our website https://todfooddropin.org/contact/ - we're always grateful for any support
