We support families with young children across Oban, Lorn and Mull — and we’re looking for an exceptional leader to take us through the next chapter.

This is a role for someone who can do two things well: lead a skilled, values-driven team delivering real change for families, and secure the funding and commissioner relationships that make our work sustainable.

If you have a track record in income generation — trust fundraising, statutory commissioning, or both — and you know Scotland’s children and families policy landscape, we’d love to hear from you.

📍 Oban (Family Centre) with regular travel to Mull

⏰ Full time, 35 hours

💰 Salary: £40,764 - £44,082

We’ve been so busy here at Home-Start Lorn that we nearly forgot to share all the excitement from our Easter Extravaganza 🐣✨

On 10th April, Craignure was bursting with laughter, colour, and Easter magic as families joined us for a truly egg-stra special day! 🌷💛

The fun kicked off with a brilliant scavenger-style egg hunt along the path, followed by lots of giggles and creativity in the playpark with Easter arts, crafts, and plenty of delicious treats to keep everyone going. 🍫🎨

When the April showers made an appearance, we hopped into the hall—but the fun didn’t stop there! The energy kept going with toys, parachute games, songs, and lots of happy little faces. 🌈🎶

And the highlight? We had not one… but TWO surprise bunny visitors, which caused absolute delight all round! 🐰🐰

It was such a fantastic day, with over 60 people coming together to celebrate, connect, and make wonderful memories.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff, volunteers, and every family who came along and made the day so special 💕

Over on Mull, join us tomorrow at our usual 'Fun Fridays' group for a special Baby & Toddler Clothes Swap Shop. It’s a great chance to clear out those outgrown items and pick up some new-to-you treasures for your little ones. Just bring along your preloved clothes to swap or rehome and enjoy a relaxed, friendly, fun morning 👗👖👕

Meanwhile, in Oban, we’re hosting a Pop-Up Charity Sale this Friday and Saturday in our Family Centre – and it’s one you won’t want to miss! We’ve got a fantastic selection of brand new ladies’ clothing, toys, and plenty more, all at bargain prices. Perfect for a wee treat or picking up something special without breaking the bank 👚🪀🐶

Just a quick note – we’re fully stocked for the sale, so we’re not taking donations at this time

We are holding an Easter event this Friday, 10th April from 10.30-1.30 in Craignure 🐰🐣

There will be a scavenger hunt from the footpath by An Roth along to the playpark where we will gather for crafts, music, a play and snacks. There will also be a very special guest..... 🐰 (We do have use of the hall should the weather go against us ☀️🌧)

All with children 0-10 welcome ✨️
If you would like to come but are not a regular attendee at our groups we just ask you let us know by commenting on this post or messaging us directly so we have an idea of numbers to ensure our guest has enough eggs for everyone!

🐣🐰Easter Opening Hours🐰🐣

Both our Oban and Mull offices will be closed on Friday 3rd April for Good Friday. Our Oban office will re-open on Monday 6th and our regular Monday Pops-Ins from 10am-2pm in the Family Centre will run as normal.

Our Mull Office will re-open on Tuesday 7th April

We are so sorry to announce the Easter extravaganza has been postponed.

With the challenging ferry situation mixed with the weather forecast we are going to postpone to day which will suit both Oban and Mull better.

🌟New Interim Service Manager Announcement🌟

Following the pending departure of our manager, we have decided not to move straight into recruiting for a replacement. Instead, we are taking a short period of time to pause and reflect.

With a valued team member returning from maternity leave and two new team members joining us, this is a great opportunity for our refreshed team to settle in together. During this time, our team and Board will also be working together to plan for the next stage of our service and think carefully about what we need from a future manager before beginning the recruitment process.

In the meantime, we are delighted to announce that our Senior Family Coordinator, Rebecca, based in Mull, will step into the role of Interim Service Manager.

Rebecca has shown fantastic leadership, dedication and skill during her five years with us. We are confident she will guide and support the team through this next phase as we continue developing our services for families across our communities.
