It's less than a month until bonfire night - have you made plans yet?

🚫 Stop – do you need to have a bonfire this year? The fewer bonfires there are, the fewer wildlife casualties there are too.

🫳 Move - if you do decide to have a bonfire, always build it on the day you plan to light it. Move all accumulated materials to a new clear site as hedgehogs & other wildlife or pets may be hiding inside.

🔦 Check - before lighting from one side, check the entire bonfire pile carefully for wildlife & pets.

STOP. MOVE. CHECK! ⬇️

They may not be a rare species in the UK, but great spotted woodpeckers are definitely a rare sight at Sunningmead's grounds! 🤩

You can make a real difference by leaving out a shallow bowl of fresh water.
🏡 If you have a garden, place one in a quiet, shady spot.
🚪 No garden? A shallow bowl on your doorstep or outside your home overnight can still be a lifesaver for passing wildlife.
