Tiverton Flower Club If you love flowers, this is the place for you! About Us
Tiverton Flower Club
We’re a friendly bunch from all walks of life with a shared love of flowers.

Come and visit our friendly club in Tiverton on the first Thursday of the month to enjoy a demonstration of flower arranging and a chance to win one of the arrangements. We host regular demonstrations and run occasional workshops and outings. Our demonstrators are NAFAS qualified and cover the whole range from modern to traditional arrangements and, as you would expect, make it look so easy! Bu

t there are always lots of tips and ideas to try out yourself, if you wish. Some of our members enter competitions in local shows (Devon County Show for example) either individually or for the Club and there are always lots of opportunities to become more involved if you wish. If you’re interested in learning or practising flower arranging, we can point you in the right direction for classes or courses. So whether you just want to spend an enjoyable afternoon in the company of other flower lovers or are looking to learn how to arrange flowers yourself, do come and join us. The club is affiliated to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies which gives access to shows, courses and a range of other events and opportunities. If you’d like to ask us any questions please drop in at one of our meetings or contact us.

June saw a welcome return visit of Lesley Hunt with her demonstration "A lifetime of hospitality". From a home B&B to a 75 bedroom hotel, she created some reminiscences of a life in Weston-super-Mare catering to guests. A lovely afternoon and some interesting designs.

Louise Brown made her first visit to us at our March meeting when she was "Inspired by Elizabeth Taylor's jewellery"!!

Her five designs depicted some of the famous jewels given to her by her two favourite husbands and finished with the famous "La Peregina Pearl".

With details of the astounding amounts paid at Christie's auction when the jewels were sold, an entertaining and informative afternoon was had by all!

8 of our members have just spent a few brilliant days as part of the Devon & Cornwall Floral Art Residential Course at the Tiverton Hotel. Two outstanding demonstrators/teachers/judges, James Burnside and Alan Beatty, gave challenges, teaching and demonstrations to keep us all on our toes. A true example of Fun and Friendship through Flowers.

Thanks to Sheila and her team for organising, and Tiverton Hotel for being such a comfortable and welcoming venue.

We can't wait for the next one!!

How to transform a miserable, cold, wet afternoon - just invite Caitlin Anning-Pile of Olive & Bloom to give a demonstration. A relaxed, chatty and very enjoyable February meeting with six delightful designs made our first visit from Caitlin one we're very keen to repeat.

Our next meeting will be on 5th March and guests/new members are very welcome to join us. Details on Facebook or www.tivertonflowerclub.org.uk

A sociable Bring and Share lunch and quiz at our January meeting was followed by a very special and personal presentation by two of our members.
In October last year, Chris and Beverley visited Kenya. Beverley had spent the first thirty years of her life there and returned every year to visit her many friends, and this year she was celebrating a special birthday too. Chris had never been before.
While they both told us a few of their highlights, Chris prepared three arrangements to illustrate some of the things that had impressed her.
First the weaver birds who all build their nests in the acacia trees facing the same way so that the sun then warms their eggs.
Then a representation of the Sleeping Warrior mountain range which, with its natural vegetation, perhaps inspired the design/colours of the Kenyan Flag.
Finally, the amazing scenery and animals. Strelitzia flowers, treated as weeds in Kenya, make excellent giraffes!
Thank you both – a lovely afternoon!

The last meeting of the year, just before Christmas, is always a special one and our December meeting was just that! An interesting and informative demonstration from Jenny York called "A Barking Mad Christmas" was also very entertaining and the number of arrangements amazing. A really fun and enjoyable afternoon.

Happy Christmas to all our members, friends and followers!
