Our member, Sophie, went on her Junior Scholarship after winning Junior Member of the Year. The scholarship was a fantastic opportunity for Sophie to explore Slovenia and Italy, learn more about agriculture and rural life, and experience the culture and countryside of both countries.

The trip began with a flight from Bristol to Venice, where the group spent the afternoon exploring the city before travelling to Ljubljana, Slovenia, the following day. In Ljubljana, she met Tadej, the RYE Slovenia leader, and enjoyed exploring the city, an adrenaline park and a lake swim. The group then learnt about Slovenian agriculture, including visits to the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry, a farm institute and a dairy farm, before travelling to the Maribor region. In Maribor, they explored the area and visited a vineyard, orchard, fields and a farm cooperative. The group then travelled to the beautiful Lake Bled area, enjoying scenic walks, a picnic and another lake swim before returning to Ljubljana. The final day was spent travelling back to Venice, where they enjoyed an Italian dinner before flying home to Bristol the following morning.
