🎉 Devon Connect has reached over 6,000 members!
A huge congratulations to all the Devon Voluntary Action partners for working together to grow this brilliant community platform and help people across Devon connect with their communities.

The Devon Connect community membership is made up of 65% residents and 35% community groups and organisations, including charities, CICs, councils and partnerships.

There’s so much happening on Devon Connect right now, with 352 live volunteering opportunities, 363 service listings, 225 community events, 20 charity jobs and so much more to explore!

These numbers reflect the collective effort of partners, who are working collaboratively to make it easier for people to find services and support, volunteer and discover what's happening in their local communities.

A fantastic milestone and a real testament to the power of partnership! 👏

Free Workshop: Engaging Communities and Volunteers

We are pleased to be partnering with Active Devon and Buddle to deliver a practical workshop focused on helping sports clubs, community organisations and physical activity providers strengthen their community connections, increase participation, and recruit and retain volunteers.

The session will provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded organisations, share experiences, and explore practical approaches to:

Better understand and engage your local community
Build stronger local partnerships and connections
Attract new participants and volunteers

Develop a more sustainable and rewarding volunteer offer.

However, we know there are still some voices that haven't been fully represented. To help us build a more complete picture of our communities, we have extended the survey deadline until the end of August.

Barnstaple Library is bursting with imagination as we launch our highly anticipated 'Get Creating' Season! Funded by Arts Council England, this season is all about pushing the bookshelves aside and turning the library into a vibrant hub of hands-on creativity, workshops, and community fun.

From absolute beginners to seasoned crafters, there is truly something for everyone.

✨ What’s Coming Up?
We have a packed line-up of events for all ages, including:

Marvellous Hot Air Balloons (Family Workshop): Craft your own beautiful willow and tissue paper hot air balloon lantern with local artist Jane Churchill. Perfect for kids doing the Summer Book Quest!

Print, Press & Repeat (Ages 8+): An introduction to relief printmaking where young people can experiment with texture, designs, and take home their own original prints.
