🚫 No BBQs or open fires – dry conditions mean the fire risk is very high
🌊 Stay out of lakes, rivers and open water
🚮 Take all litter home and help keep our parks clean and beautiful

Looking for a way to make a real difference while spending time with colleagues?

🌸 It's Let It Bloom June! 🌸

🌿 Creating space for nature at the Breedon Cement & Aggregates Depot in Walsall 🌿

Last week, our Nature Recovery Team installed a series of raised beds at the site, funded by Breedon Group plc as part of their commitment to supporting biodiversity and enhancing habitats for local wildlife.

Biodiversity is vital for healthy ecosystems, helping to support pollinators, improve soil health, and create resilient environments where nature can thrive. These raised beds will provide valuable opportunities for plants, insects, and other wildlife to flourish.

It's fantastic to see businesses taking positive action for nature and investing in projects that deliver lasting environmental benefits.

🌍🎉 International Day of Play – 11 June 🎉🌍

Today, on the International Day of Play, we celebrate and recognise every child's right to play.

Through the Go Play project, funded by Sandwell Council, Groundwork West Midlands is proud to put play at the centre of everything we do. We believe that play is vital for children's wellbeing, development, creativity, and happiness.

As play activators, we create opportunities for children and families to access exciting play experiences that may not always be available in their everyday lives. Whether it's exploring nature, being active, getting creative, or making new friends, play helps children develop confidence, resilience, and important life skills.

We're also play educators, supporting children to learn new skills and build on existing ones—all while having fun. Every activity we deliver is underpinned by our commitment to championing every child's right to play.

Today, we celebrate the power of play and the positive impact it has on children, families, and communities across Sandwell.

🌱 You’re invited to the launch of The Potters' Patch Community Garden! 🌱

Groundwork West Midlands, in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, is delighted to welcome local residents, families, and community groups to celebrate the opening of a brand-new community garden at Bucknall New Road, Hanley.

This new space has been created to support wellbeing, encourage community connection, and provide opportunities for local people to get involved in nature-based activities.

We’ll be hosting a range of free family-friendly activities, including:
🌱 Seed sowing (take your plants home!)
🧺 Willow weaving
🎨 Nature-inspired arts and crafts
🍓 Fruit kebab making for children
🤝 Information on volunteering opportunities

🎉💜 Celebrating community at Unity Brew 💜🎉

On Friday, we were delighted to celebrate June’s birthday here at Unity Brew, with June and her friends joining us for a lovely lunch, birthday cake, and lots of laughter.

Unity Brew Community Café is proudly run by Groundwork West Midlands, and celebrations like this are a great reminder of what the café is all about — a welcoming, inclusive space where people can come together, connect, and feel part of their community.

It’s always wonderful to see our regular visitors building friendships here and using the café as a place to meet, share time, and celebrate special moments.
