Proud to support PwC’s One Firm One Day initiative across multiple local schools in the same day.

Alongside the project at Hawbush Primary School, Groundwork West Midlands also facilitated a second volunteering project at The Paganel Primary School, where another fantastic team of PwC volunteers worked hard to transform outdoor spaces for pupils and staff.

Throughout the day, volunteers:
• Built raised beds
• Constructed wellie storage and a mud kitchen
• Cut back overgrowth to improve access and usability of outdoor areas

It was inspiring to see so many people giving their time to support local schools and create lasting improvements for young people and the wider community.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making the day such a success. Your hard work and enthusiasm will leave a positive impact for years to come.

Great to support Hawbush Primary School as part of PwC’s One Firm One Day initiative.

At Groundwork West Midlands, we were proud to facilitate the corporate volunteering day, welcoming 25 PwC volunteers who worked together to transform the school’s outdoor spaces for pupils and staff.

Across the day, the team achieved some fantastic improvements, including building raised beds, constructing compost and green waste bins, painting key areas around the site, spreading woodchip across outdoor spaces, and clearing back overgrowth around the trim trail to make it usable again.

It was a brilliant example of what can be achieved when businesses and community organisations come together to create positive local impact. A huge thank you to everyone involved for their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment.

🌻 This week is National Children’s Gardening Week (23–31 May 2026)!

At Groundwork West Midlands, we deliver gardening and outdoor learning activities across our country parks and at The People's Patch Coventry, helping children and families connect with nature while learning new skills.

Activities such as growing sunflowers with support from Fothergills UK, bug hunts, planting and wildlife exploration encourage curiosity, creativity and wellbeing through hands-on outdoor experiences. 🐞🌱

These sessions help children understand the importance of caring for the environment, supporting biodiversity and enjoying the benefits of spending time in green spaces.

🌿 International Day for Biological Diversity 🌿

Today is a reminder of how important biodiversity is for healthy ecosystems, thriving wildlife, and resilient communities. From pollinators and wildflowers to woodlands and wetlands, every species plays a role in maintaining the natural balance of our environment. 🐝🌼

At Groundwork West Midlands, biodiversity is at the heart of much of our environmental work. Through nature recovery projects, habitat improvements, community engagement activities, and the management of local green spaces, we’re helping create places where wildlife and people can thrive together.

Whether it’s planting wildflowers, improving habitats, supporting local wildlife, or encouraging communities to reconnect with nature, every project contributes to a greener and more sustainable future for the West Midlands. 💚

This International Day for Biological Diversity, we encourage everyone to take a moment to appreciate the nature around them and consider the small actions we can all take to support biodiversity in our local communities.

🐝 Happy World Bee Day 🐝

Bees are essential to healthy ecosystems and play a huge role in pollinating the plants that support our food, wildlife, and natural environments.

At Groundwork West Midlands, we know how important it is to protect and improve spaces where pollinators can thrive. From creating wildflower habitats to supporting nature recovery projects across our communities, every action helps support biodiversity 🌼🌿

You can help too by planting bee-friendly flowers, reducing pesticide use, and creating spaces for nature in your local area.

Small actions can make a big difference for our pollinators 💛

Last week, a team from Haldex took part in a CSR volunteering day at Bethel New Life Apostolic Church and Community Centre - Coventry, helping support an inspiring project to transform a neglected outdoor space into a thriving community garden.

The Community Centre is a much-loved local hub, running activities such as its popular “Soup and Chats,” which bring people together for conversation, connection and support. The aim is to turn the outdoor area into a vibrant community garden where residents can learn about food growing, take part in gardening activities, and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of nature — with a focus on creating an inclusive space for children and people with additional needs.

On the day, the team helped with:
• Building, painting and filling raised beds
• Developing a sensory area
• Digging an access pathway to improve access around the site

These improvements lay the foundations for future planting, with the exciting possibility that homegrown produce could one day be used in the Centre’s Soup and Chats sessions.

If you’d like to get involved in a CSR volunteering day, email [email protected] to find out how you can make a difference in your local community.
