It’s , so we’re celebrating the important work our female rangers do across the estate to look after nature, protect wildlife and promote biodiversity 👏

Pictured here are just a few of the team at work. We’d like to say a big thank you to them all for their contributions. Whether it’s assisting during lambing season, repairing fences or planting trees, their work is vital in ensuring nature flourishes at Calke 🌱

This week’s shaping up to be a hot one, so we’ve got some updates and top tips if you’re planning on visiting Calke ☀️

- Please drink plenty of water, wear sunhats and sunscreen and stay in the shade. There’s plenty of woodland around the gardens and parkland to cool off in! 😎

- Because of the high temperatures, our food & beverage offer will be reduced to prevent food wastage and keep staff safe. The restaurant will be open as normal, with a reduced hot food offer after 12pm. Business as usual will resume from Saturday🍴

- The top floor of the house will be closed until Saturday. The lower floors, including the tunnels (which are lovely and cool) will remain open 🏖️

- UPDATE: we'll be closing at the earlier time of 3.30pm on Thursday and Friday - this includes the House, Gardens, Restaurant and Shop.

Stay safe and thank you for helping us to look after our team members as well as visitors 😊

Work is starting soon on improvements to car parking at Calke. We know that this has been a long-standing issue – particularly in wet weather when overflow parking becomes unusable and the estate has sometimes had to close at short notice.

These improvements will help keep Calke open more reliably throughout the year, with better drainage and more resilient parking that can cope with increasingly unpredictable weather conditions.

As of Monday 22 June, parking arrangements at Calke Explore will change due to works. Visitors wishing to access Calke Explore should park at Ragg's Close, the grassed parking area located just beyond the Middle Lodge arch and the park admission point. Temporary signage will be in place, and it's a short walk from Ragg's Close to the facilities at Calke Explore. Accessible parking spaces and electric vehicle charging points at Calke Explore will remain open, though capacity will be limited.

There may be some disruption while work is underway, and parking will be more limited at times. Updates will be shared on our website and social media when available, and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience while we carry out this work.

Charge your car, then reconnect with nature⚡

This , why not make your next visit to Calke a little greener?

At Calke Explore, you'll find three electric vehicle charging points, making it easy to top up your battery before heading out on the Tramway Trail, exploring the countryside on two wheels, or simply taking a moment to enjoy the outdoors.

The charging points are available to use via the ChargePoint app or contactless payment, in partnership with RAW Charging.

Small changes can make a big difference. Whether it's choosing to travel by electric vehicle, exploring by bike, bringing a reusable cup or spending more time in nature, there are lots of ways to support a greener future.

Did you know? Much of our own estate fleet, including the visitor buggy service, is now electric too.
