🎉HAPPY VOLUNTEERS WEEK🎉

This Volunteers' Week, we'd like to say a huge thank you to every single person who has volunteered with us over the years💙

Whether it's been helping in our Gardens and Greenhouses, supporting our Sharing Shed, lending a hand at our Repair Cafes, keeping our folks at Lunch Club fed and chatting away, or working away behind the scenes, you've all played a part in what we do.

We also have a fantastic team of volunteers who open, close, and clean our Harbour Toilets - though you'll have to excuse the lack of photos for that one (some roles are definitely more glamorous than others!! 🚽😁)

Here are just some of our amazing volunteers who help make our projects and missions possible - we really couldn't do any of this without you, so thank you! 💙

📣 We're looking for anyone experienced in textile work!📣

As part of a series of upcoming upcycling courses funded through the Highland Reuse and Repair Fund, we're looking for someone with experience working with textiles to help deliver a number of workshops.

🧵 The role involves helping to facilitate 9 hours worth of workshop time, spread across 4 workshops, with some budget to compensate for time.

If you have experience in textiles upcycling, sewing, or related skills and would be interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you!

✨SHARING SHED DELIVERY✨

Our Sharing Shed has been topped up once again!

We’ll be open from 9:30am tomorrow from its new home in our office kitchen on Rotterdam Street!

Make sure to pop in and grab an item or two! And if you’ve got anything you’d like to donate to the shed, then please do get in touch with us and help us reduce food waste and share across the community!💙

It's your chance to hear all about Men's Shed in Scotland and discuss the activities you'd like to see happening here!

Just a wee reminder about the upcoming information session for a potential Men’s Shed in Thurso!

We’re pleased to be hosting Ross Murray from the Scottish Men's Shed Association on Tuesday 2nd June, 7pm-8:30pm

This will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about Men’s Sheds in Scotland, hear what they involve, and share your ideas on what you’d like to see in Thurso.

✨ TOMORROW’S THE DAY! ✨

In case you missed it, there’s lots happening around town tomorrow!!

With a cruise ship arriving and plenty going on throughout the day, we’re looking forward to seeing the town full of life, friendly faces and community spirit 💙

Here’s a little reminder of what’s happening 👇

🛍️ The Thurso Community Market will be taking over the precinct from 11am–3pm with a fantastic selection of local businesses, makers, stalls and entertainment.

🧶 Our Community Space will also be open from 11am–3pm for the return of the Thurso Mini Mart pop-up shop, alongside other local businesses raising funds for Caithness Mental Health Group.

🛠️ Then from 2pm–4pm, our monthly Repair Café will be back! If you’ve got something needing fixed, mended or brought back to life, bring it along and our amazing volunteers will do their best to help. Repairs are free, with donations welcome.

We can’t wait to see you all there!

We’re super excited to be joining a range of amazing local organisations at the Caithness Community Conversation!

It's a fantastic opportunity to meet local groups, organisations and projects, learn more about the support and services available here, and hear short informative talks from NHS Highland, Foundation Scotland and the Highland Council.

🌱REPAIR CAFE, SEED SWAP & PLANT SALE 🌱

4 days to go!!

Pop along to our Greenhouses between 2-4pm this Saturday, 30th May, for any repairs, seed swaps and plant sale!

Plants are available by donation, and repairs are free, though donations are always very welcome and appreciated here too.

Make sure to visit the Thurso Community Market in the precinct and Thurso Mini Mart in the Community Space from 11am-3pm, too!

It’s a busy day for us on Saturday and we’re very excited!!

The countdown is officially on! our upcoming market is happening this Saturday 30th from 11am–3pm! 🎉

We're super excited to welcome all our fantastic stallholders and entertainment to the precinct for what looks to be a great day for our town!

Don't forget that we'll also be having our monthly Repair Cafe in the Greenhouses from 2pm-4pm, and the Thurso mini mart in our Community Space from 11am-3pm, too!

You can find us at 1 Rotterdam Street (formerly Socially Growing) right in the centre of the precinct.

Pop in between 9:30am–3pm and help us reduce food waste 💚
