We had a great treat last night at the Thurso Rotary Club Annual Speechmaking Competition in Thurso West Church. All competitors gave excellent speeches on their own personal topic which ranged from ‘Sweeney Todd,’ ‘Astronomy’, ‘Metallica,’ ‘AI’ and ‘Women’s Rights’. The overall winner of the Thurso Rotary Trophy was Heather Leith on her topic ‘ Metallica’ and the Ronnie Johnstone Trophy for the most innovative and challenging topic was .Mairead MacIntosh on her topic ‘Women’s Rights’. We can confirm that the cost of one ShelterBox has now been donated to the ShelterBox Trust to provide direct and much needed support to the displaced families in Nepal following the flash floods. This is Rotary in action, a quick response to a unmeasurable humanitarian disaster and we; Thurso Rotary Club are delighted to do our bit.
